Price:
The Thruxton 400 is expected to come at a price similar to that of the Scrambler 400X, which is around Rs 2.62 lakh ex-showroom (Dehi).
Features:
The Thruxton 400 comes with a few new design elements such as a half-fairing, new clip-on handlebars and a bashplate.
Engine:
The Thruxton 400 will feature the same engine that we have seen on the Speed 400, the 398.15cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that produces 40PS at 8000rpm and 37.5Nm at 6500rpm, mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The bike is expected to get slip-and-assist clutch and ride-by-wire throttle like the Speed 400.
Suspension and Brakes:
Suspension setup comprises 43mm inverted fork at front and a gas-charged preload-adjustable monoshock in the rear. The braking duties are handled by a 300mm disc at the front with a radial caliper, and a 230mm disc at the rear, similar to that on the Speed 400.
Rivals:
The closest cafe racer rival to the Thruxton 400 will be the Husqvarna Vitpilen 250. The other alternatives in the 300-400cc segment include KTM 390 Duke, Honda CB300R, BMW G 310 R and the Zontes GK350.
