Overview
BMW R 1300 GS Overview
The BMW R 1300 GS can be easily called the “big daddy” of adventure bikes. Solely because it belongs to the family of bikes that started the entire ADV segment in the world. The 1300 takes everything that GS stood for, over the decades, to a whole new level with improved touring and off-roading capabilities, more performance, and new & updated tech and features.

BMW R 1300 GS Price
The BMW R 1300 GS is priced at Rs 21,20,000 (ex-showroom).
BMW R 1300 GS Variants
In India, the BMW R 1300 GS is only sold in the Pro variant, with optional packages that bring in more tech and improved hardware.
BMW R 1300 GS Colour Options
The BMW R 1300 GS can be had in four colour options – Light White, GS Trophy, Triple Black, and Option 719 Aurelius Green. The GS Trophy brings in the familiar blue and white paint scheme that is often associated with the GS. However, the Option 719 Aurelius Green looks quite distinct and is our pick if we had to buy one.

BMW R 1300 GS Design
While the BMW R 1300 GS looks as bulky and intimidating as its predecessor, its looks have completely changed. It gets an X-shaped LED DRL surrounding the LED headlight unit. The stock windshield is quite short and looks sporty. This sportiness is quite evident from the sides as well with the small-looking fuel-tank panels (the tank is quite large though), and a narrow mid-section. The tail is slim as well, but looks quite purposeful and in sync with the rest of the bike.

BMW R 1300 GS Engine Performance
The BMW R 1300 GS has a 1,300cc boxer twin engine. It makes 145PS at 7,750rpm and 149Nm at 6,500rpm, and is mated to a six-speed gearbox with a slipper clutch.

BMW R 1300 GS Features
Being a flagship adventure bike, the R 1300 GS is quite loaded with features – so much so that if we list them all here, you’d be scrolling through them for a page or two. However, some of its highlights are heated grips, adaptive headlights, a 10.25-inch TFT console with smartphone connectivity and navigation, keyless ignition, tyre pressure monitoring, cornering traction control, cornering ABS, 4 riding modes (Eco, Rain, Road, Enduro), hill-start assist, and adaptive cruise control.

BMW R 1300 GS Chassis, Brakes, Wheels, Suspension
The BMW R 1300 GS has a tubular frame. It still gets the iconic telelever front suspension, and paralever rear suspension. The rear has an adjustable preload, and it can be adaptive if you opt for the optional Dynamic package. The Light White and Triple Black colour options are available with alloy wheels, while the GS Trophy and Option 719 Aurelius Green have tubeless spoked wheels - 19” front, 17” rear. Twin disc brakes up front and a single at the rear. It has a relatively tall 850mm seat height, 237kg kerb weight, and a 19-litre fuel tank.

BMW R 1300 GS Competition
The BMW R 1300 GS’ biggest rival in India is the Ducati Multistrada V4. It has a similar starting price as the GS, however its top end is quite expensive. Other brands’ flagship ADVs for India are the KTM 1290 Super Adventure S, Triumph Tiger 1200, Harley-Davidson Pan America, and the Honda Africa Twin
