Royal Enfield Hunter 350
- The Royal Enfield Hunter 350 is the smallest and lightest bike the company makes.
- It was designed to appeal to younger riders and first-time bike buyers who would normally not consider other Royal Enfield bikes due to their larger size and heavy weight.
- The Hunter is powered by the same J-series 349cc single-cylinder air-cooled motor that powers the Classic 350 and the Meteor 350.
- It is the only bike from Royal Enfield that gets 17-inch wheels at both ends, making it quite nimble for city use
- It gets fresh and youthful colour schemes, compared to the more classic paint schemes found on Royal Enfield’s other bikes
- While it’s not very feature packed, you do get dual-channel ABS, a semi-digital console and RE’s Tripper Pod for turn-by-turn navigation.

Hunter 350 Expert Review
For the young guns
The Royal Enfield Hunter 350 is the most affordable and lightweight motorcycle in the brand's lineup, making it an attractive option for those entering the world of Royal Enfield. Designed with an old-school appeal, the Hunter 350 is aimed at younger riders who want a stylish, easy-to-handle, and fun-to-ride motorcycle for city use.
Design
- The Hunter’s old-school or vintage styling is in keeping with the company’s classic design language. It looks modern in some ways, and properly old-school in others.
- It has a sculpted teardrop-shaped fuel tank, a round headlamp, mirrors and indicators, all of which give it a proper retro street bike vib
- The Metro variant of the Hunter 350 gets blacked-out engine, exhaust, and alloy wheels, which look a bit sporty
- The LED headlight works well and goes with the bike’s more old-school design.
- The Royal Enfield Hunter 350 is available in six vibrant color options - Factory Black in Hunter 350 standard, Dapper Grey and Rio White in the Hunter 350 mid-spec, London Red, Rebel Blue and Tokyo Black in top-end variant.
- Its compact stance sets it apart from other Royal Enfield bikes, which might not appeal to hardcore RE fans, but will feel welcoming to newer bike riders
- Also, the exhaust note is quite raspy from the short end-can.
Features
-
The 2025 Hunter 350 lacks modern convenience features that could have improved daily usability. It doesn’t get ride modes, smartphone connectivity but comes equipped with a slipper clutch and gets a USB charging port
- It has a semi-digital instrument cluster with an analogue speedometer and a digital inset that shows the fuel gauge, clock, gear position indicator, odometer and trip meters. But this is only on the Metro variant
-
That said, the text on the digital inset is a bit small and a bit difficult to read
-
The Retro variant also gets a semi-digital instrument cluster, with a much more basic digital inset
-
You do get the Tripper Navigation pod as an option, which adds Turn-by-turn navigation - useful if you plan to ride to unknown destinations
-
For safety, the Metro variant of the Hunter 350 comes with dual-channel ABS, while Retro variant only gets single-channel ABS
- The Metro variant gets the new rotary-style switchgear from the Classic 350 - which does look good, but it is a bit of a pain to use
- The Metro variant also gets an “i” button on the left switchgear to cycle through all the readouts (Trip 1, Trip 2, fuel economy, etc) on the digital inset on the instrument console
- The Retro variant has more conventional switchgear which is easy to use, but looks a little basic.
Riding Posture & Comfort
-
The riding posture on the Hunter 350 is slightly leaned forward, making it feel sportier than other Royal Enfields
-
The Royal Enfield Hunter 350, with its accessible seat height, definitely strikes a balance with being accessible for all kinds of riders
- The 790mm seat height is accessible for most riders with different body styles, and with the well-padded seat, it is definitely a good commuter bike
-
The pillion seat is decent for short rides but might feel cramped on longer journeys
-
The Metro variant gets split grab rails, offering better support for the passenger, while the Retro variant has a classic tubular grab rail, which doesn’t feel as good
-
A passenger backrest option would have been a nice addition to improve pillion comfort.
Engine Performance & Mileage
-
The Hunter 350 is powered by the same J-Series engine seen on the Classic 350 and Meteor 350.
Engine |
Power |
Torque |
Transmission |
349cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled |
20.2PS |
27Nm |
5-speed |
- This engine offers enough low-end torque to navigate stop-and-go situations in traffic without constant gear changes
-
It also pulls well in higher gears, and doesn’t require frequent downshifts for overtaking
-
On the highway, the Hunter 350 can comfortably cruise between 80-90 kmph, but pushing it beyond that takes effort.
-
The engine feels fairly refined at city speeds, but at around 100 kmph, vibrations start creeping in through the handlebars and mirrors
-
With the addition of slip-and-assist clutch, the clutch action too now feels light and is easy to use when riding around in traffic.
-
In my real-world tests, the 2025 Hunter 350 returned approximately 40.19kmpl in the city and 35.98kmpl on the highway
Handling & Ride Quality
-
With its compact size and smaller 17-inch wheels, the Hunter 350 is one of the most agile Royal Enfield motorcycles
-
It feels quick to turn and holds its line well through corners. However, the stock MRF tyres could offer better grip
-
Royal Enfield claims the revised rear suspension has been tuned for better comfort in the 2025 model, so tackling bad roads should be easier in the newer bike.
-
The Hunter 350 top end variant gets disc brakes on both wheels, while the Retro only gets a drum brake at the rear. Braking performance on both variants is fairly adequate, but the front brake lever feels a bit spongy and requires to be pulled with more pressure for slowing down quickly
Is the Royal Enfield Hunter 350 Right for You?
-
If you’re looking for a stylish, lightweight, and easy-to-ride Royal Enfield in 2025, that excels in city riding, the Hunter 350 is a great choice
-
It’s beginner friendly and offers an affordable entry into the Royal Enfield lineup
-
However, if you prioritize highway touring, ride comfort, or feature packed motorcycles, you might want to explore other options.
