Triumph Tiger 1200 Design
The Tiger 1200 has a very unique design with the adv-styled high-mounted front fender, muscular fuel tank with large tank shrouds, upswept exhaust and a tall windscreen. The bike also gets a golden-coloured fork that looks quite premium. The bike comes in four variants and variant-exclusive colour schemes, but we like the ‘Snowdonia White’ that comes with the most affordable variant more.

Triumph Tiger 1200 Engine
The Triumph Tiger 1200 is powered by a 1160cc, liquid-cooled, three cylinder engine that produces 158PS at 9,000rpm and 130Nm at 7,000rpm. It is paired to a 6-speed gearbox that comes with a slip-and-assist clutch.

Triumph Tiger 1200 Chassis, Brakes, Wheels, Suspension
The Triumph Tiger 1200 GT Pro gets a 49mm Showa inverted fork and a fully-adjustable Showa monoshock, both offering 200mm of wheel travel. The bike gets a 320mm dual front and a 282mm rear disc brakes with dual-channel switchable ABS. The bike comes with 19-inch front and 18-inch rear spoke wheels wrapped in Metzeler Tourance. It has an 850mm seat height (adjustable to 870mm), weighs 246kg and has a 20-litre fuel tank. The Triumph Tiger 1200 GT Explorer gets similar underpinnings as the GT Pro, with only the exception of a 30-litre fuel tank. Due to this additional fuel tank capacity, the bike weighs around 256kg.
The Rally Pro and Rally Explorer variants also come with a Showa suspension setups, with a 49mm inverted fork and a monoshock, both fully adjustable but have an increased 220mm of wheel travel. These variants come with a 21-inch front and an 18-inch rear spoked wheel setup, with a 90-section front and a 150-section rear Metzeler Karoo Street tubeless tyres.
The Rally Pro variant gets a 20-litre fuel tank, weighs about 250kg (kerb), while the Rally Explorer variant gets a 30-litre fuel tank and weighs 262kg (kerb). Both the variants have a seat height that is adjustable from 875mm to 895mm.

Triumph Tiger 1200 Features
The Triumph Tiger 1200 is equipped with a 7-inch TFT instrument console that offers smartphone connectivity through ‘My Triumph Connectivity System’. It gets a ‘Triumph Blind Spot Radar’ system. It comes with useful features like ‘Blind Spot’ and ‘Lane Change’ assist. It gets a lot of riding aids with a cruise control system, hill hold control, six riding modes, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), adaptive cornering lights, switchable-ABS and traction control system.

Triumph Tiger 1200 Competition
The Triumph Tiger 1200 currently competes with the BMW R1300 GS and the Ducati Multistrada V4. Although the Multistrada V4 starts at a similar price range, its top end variant is twice as expensive as the Triumph. The BMW has a similar price tag and is on-par with the Triumph.

The Triumph Tiger 1200 is powered by a new 1160cc inline-triple motor that dishes out 150PS and 130Nm. That’s 9PS and 8Nm more than the older model. Moreover, the Tiger 1200 also features a lighter and lower-maintenance shaft drive system. The uneven firing order is claimed to provide both low-end and top-end grunt to suit the Tiger’s off-roading and touring capabilities.
Overall, the Tiger 1200 now weighs 25kg less. It uses a 5. 4kg lighter frame with a bolt-on subframe and the suspension hardware comprises a Showa semi-active suspension across all variants. Meanwhile, the braking hardware consists of a Brembo system.
As for the electronics suite, you get cornering traction control, ABS, six riding modes, a quickshifter, adaptive cornering lights, hill hold control, electronic cruise control and heated grips throughout the range. However, the Tiger 1200 GT Explorer and Rally Explorer also get heated seats, a Blind Spot Radar system (a first for Triumph) and Lane Change assist.
