F77 Expert Review
Ultravilette F77 Mach 2 - Now Better Than Before?
The Ultraviolette F77 Mach 2 is the second generation of the brand’s F77 platform. The Mach 2 version has undergone some much-needed changes in terms of performance and features. The bike currently stands out as an affordable performance electric bike in the market, competing with 300cc petrol-powered bikes, without the extra cost.
Design
-
The Ultraviolette F77 Mach 2 follows the same design philosophy as the Ultraviolette F77, taking inspiration from the F-series of fighter jets.
- The sharp and angular front section, with the integrated fork covers gives the bike a modern look and feel.
-
The slim profile, with the integrated fairing and stubby-looking winglets give the bike that jet fighter look.
-
The raised tail-section with the split seat setup looks quite sporty.
- Addition of an aluminum cover for the charging port adds a layer of extra safety from dust and debris. In my opinion the Stellar White paint scheme looks quite good.
-
Tank grips are now offered as standard and makes it a lot easier to grip the bike while riding. The fit and finish levels are very good, with no exposed wires, making the bike feel quite premium, and the alloy wheel design completes the overall head turner looks.
Features
-
The TFT console on the Ultraviolette F77 has a clean layout, and the graphics look quite good giving it a futuristic feel.
- The 10 levels of regenerative braking on the Recon variant do a good job recreating the feel of engine braking on a regular petrol bike. The addition of safety features like the traction control system really adds an additional layer of safety.
- he hill-hold assist feature has to be engaged manually by the rider, and does take a while getting used to. There's also an anti-theft system and it also gets a tyre pressure monitoring system along with all LED lights.
Riding Posture & Comfort
-
The Ultraviolette F77 Mach 2 has a sporty and committed riding stance with the rear-set footpegs and low clip-on handlebars.
- The riding posture is a bit too strenuous for daily commutes making the rider triangle a bit uncomfortable, but works well and enhances the overall riding experience. The seat height of 800mm is fairly accessible for shorter riders.
Engine, Mileage & Performance
-
The Ultraviolette F77 Mach 2 is available with two different motor options.
Motor |
Power |
Torque |
Standard |
27kW (36.7PS) |
90Nm |
Recon |
30kW (40PS) |

- The throttle calibration on the Mach 2 Recon variant is quite smooth, with linear acceleration until 30kmph followed by a burst of power and torque which makes the e-bike feel ballistic.
- The 10.3kWh battery pack on the Recon variant offers a range of 307km which is quite impressive. Along with this the e-bike also gets 3 ride modes.
-
The boost charging mode allows the rider to charge up to 75km of range with an hour’s worth of charging. This reduces range anxiety to a great extent.
Handling & Ride Quality
-
The 207kg kerb weight of the bike can feel a bit intimidating when moving the bike around in the parking lot.
-
Once on the go, the weight is not felt and even shorter riders will be able to manage the bike’s weight.
- The stiff setting may not be quite practical while city riding, city traffic conditions or over bad patches of roads during daily commutes. The specially-designed MRF tyres that come with this bike offer good grip and inspire a lot of confidence while cornering or quick direction changes.
- The specially-designed MRF tyres that come with this bike offer good grip and inspire a lot of confidence while cornering or quick direction changes. Braking performance is superb, with a good feel and feedback from the brake lever. The bike comes to a halt quickly and it also gets ABS modes.
Should You Buy The Ultravioletee F77 Mach 2?
-
The Ultraviolette F77 is a bike which will appeal to those who are looking for a performance electric bike.
-
The F77 manages to tick all the right boxes, with good looks, performance and handling.
-
That said, the stiff suspension and committed riding posture makes it a bit impractical for daily use.
Ultraviolette F77 Pros and Cons
Things We Like
- Looks - futuristic and aggressive look with great build quality, the F77 attracts a lot of attention
- Performance & handling - while the F77 isn’t as fast as the KTM RC 390, its performance is still very exciting and it handles like a proper sportsbike
- Features - the console is feature-packed and is quite easy to use too | It now also gets regenerative braking and 4 levels of traction control
Things We Don't Like
- Riding posture is quite committed and it’s not for everyone
- The rear shock is quite firmly sprung and it will toss the rider a bit on our roads if you cross speed breakers at speed
- The console is flat and the text isn’t large enough for the rider to read easily on the go
