Orxa Mantis Latest Updates
The Orxa Mantis the first electric bike from the Bengaluru based startup, Orxa Energies. It is a performance-oriented electric bike that has the second highest range in India, after the Ultraviolette F77. The bike comes with a claimed IDC (Indian Driving Conditions) range of 221km.
Price
The Mantis comes at a price of Rs 3,60,000 (ex-showroom Bengaluru) including the standard 1. 3kW charger. Just like the Ultraviolette F77, the Mantis too is not eligible for FAME 2 subsidy. Bookings have started, and the first 1,000 customers will be able to book the motorcycle for Rs 10,000, after that the booking charges will be Rs 25,000. The first batch of the Mantis will start being delivered in Bengaluru starting in April of 2024, the next batches will begin in July and October 2024. Orxa Electric has promised a 3 year/30,000km warranty for the bike, battery and motor.
Features
The Orxa Mantis comes equipped with a lot of modern features, from all-LED lighting with twin projector headlights, ride-by-wire, side stand sensor, regenerative braking and a 5-inch TFT instrument console that brings features such as smartphone connectivity with phone notifications, ride analytics and turn-by-turn navigation. The bike is offered in 2 colour schemes, Jungle Gray and Urban Black.
Engine
Powering the Mantis is a liquid-cooled motor that outputs peak power and torque of 20. 5kW and 93Nm. The bike has a claimed top-speed of 135kmph and can accelerate from 0-100kmph in just 8. 9 seconds. The battery capacity stands at 8. 9kWh and comes with a IDC (Indian Driving Conditions) claimed estimated range of 221km. Charging the battery from 0-80 percent takes 5 hours when using the standard 1. 3kW charger and when using the quicker ‘Blitz’ 3. 3kW charger the bike takes 2 hours and 30 minutes to get from 0-80%.
Suspension, Brakes & Other Details
The Mantis features an all-aluminum aerospace-grade alloy frame and subframe (a segment first) and is suspended on a 41mm telescopic fork at front and a preload-adjustable monoshock in the rear. Brakes consist of a 320mm disc at front with a four piston radial calliper and a 230mm disc at the rear with a single-piston floating calliper; the bike gets single-channel ABS as standard. At this price point, Orxa should have given an inverted fork and a dual-channel ABS as standard.
The Mantis rolls on Ceat Zoom radial tyres at both ends. Up front, it gets a 110/70-R17 section tyre, and a 130/70-R17 section rubber at the rear. The wheelbase stands at 1,450mm and seat height is 815mm. The bike has a kerb weight of 182kg and generous ground clearance of 180mm.
Rivals
The Mantis’ direct rival is the Ultraviolette F77. If you’re looking for much more affordable electric bikes with the performance of bikes with 150cc and below, then there are a few options to choose from such as the Tork Kratos, Oben Rorr, Revolt RV400 and the Matter Aera.
