Yamaha entered the Indian two-wheeler market in India through a joint venture with Escorts Group, with the latter handling the production of Yamaha two-wheelers in the country. The iconic Rajdoot 350 and the RX 100 are some of the two-wheelers launched under that JV. 

In 2001, the entire operation became a 100% subsidiary of Yamaha Motor Company (Japan). Yamaha Motor India currently runs the brand’s operations in India. Interesting Facts about Yamaha

The Aerox 155’s engine is actually a motorcycle engine. It is the R15’s 155cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder motor that’s been fitted into the scooter and as such, the scooter is able to provide blistering performance with the added convenience of a scooter. Kind of like a ‘best of both worlds’ scenario.
