Next-Gen Yamaha MT-125 Unveiled Globally: MT-15 Update Next?
The baby MT is now sharper than ever, and its Indian cousin could also get updated soon
Yamaha has unveiled the next-generation MT-125 internationally. It gets a sharper design, revised fascia, and updated features. While these updates are for the MT-125, we can also speculate that they could make their way to the Indian spec MT-15 in the future. Here's a closer look:
What's New
The biggest visual change on the 2027 MT-125 is its revised fascia, inspired by the bigger MT-07 and MT-09. It gets an all-new headlight cowl with twin LED DRLs on either side and a new projector headlight mounted above the DRLs, instead of below as seen on the MT-15.
Another visual change is a slightly revised tank, which is bulkier and looks more muscular than before, giving the naked bike a more aggressive look. The bike also gets larger, more aggressive tank shrouds, which give it a big-bike feel.
Another major change is in the electronics. The older MT-125 came with a 4.2-inch TFT screen, but the 2027 variant gets an updated 5-inch TFT console. It gets Bluetooth connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation and call/SMS alerts for added convenience.
The 2027 MT-125 is available in four colours: Ice Storm, Redline White, Icon Blue and Tech Black.
What's Unchanged
The MT-125 continues to be powered by a 124.7cc liquid-cooled engine with VVA (Variable Valve Actuation), making 15 PS and 11.4 Nm, paired with a 6-speed gearbox. The Deltabox frame and underpinnings also remain unchanged for 2027.
Will The MT-15 Get The Same Update?
While Yamaha has not officially confirmed anything yet, we expect the brand could update the bike with this new look in the future.
The MT-15 is one of Yamaha's most popular bikes in India. However, its front-end design has been a bit polarising for many. With this new update, the Yamaha bike could become more aggressive and sporty, which could appeal to a wider audience.
We could also expect the bike to come with the larger 5-inch TFT console instead of the 4.2-inch unit found on the current-gen MT-15, with more or less the same set of features, such as Bluetooth connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation and call/SMS alerts.
All of these updates could make the MT-15 more appealing to a wider range of buyers and make it more competitive in its segment.

- Refined 155cc beastCompared to other segment bikes its the most aggressive and refined bike I have ever riden, the weight of this bike is so light that even the mentioned torque and bhp seems not to be true, the power delivery of the bike is so responsive and the tech is so advance that the torque push can be felt post 7500 rpm.
