Splendor Plus Expert Review
Hero Splendor Plus - Still The King Of Indian Roads?
The Hero Splendor is the most popular 100cc commuter bike in India, and has been a favourite of Indian consumers since its launch. Over the years, Hero had brought some much-needed updates to the bike to keep it relevant. But at its heart, it is still the same, no-nonsense commuter bike that it was from over two decades ago.
The 2025 Splendor Plus was launched back in April, and it has received some much needed changes, which we have highlighted here. The brand has also launched a special edition of the Splendor Plus this year, and it features a unique colour scheme and some other changes.

Design
-
From the front it looks exactly like the original Hero Splendor thanks to the rectangular headlight and turn indicator setup.

-
The bike still has the same slim profile, with the rectangular tank and long single-piece seat, and it looks good

-
The metallic pillion grab rail looks quite rugged and also offers the option to mount luggage, a nice addition

-
The bike is offered in a wide range of colour options depending on the variant, and all of them look really good. Our favorite is the Black Red Purple colour scheme which is basically the most popular colour scheme of the original Splendor

-
The metallic badging on the side panels adds a premium touch to the bike
- Unlike the earlier Splendors, the 2025 Hero Splendor is only available with alloy wheels with tubeless tyres.
Handling, Braking & Ride Quality
- The Hero Splendor Plus gets a simple dual-pod instrument console with a speedometer and fuel gauge, which is quite easy to read and offers an old-school feel

- You can also charge your phone while riding using the USB charging port on the bike

- The i3S variant of the 2025 Splendor Plus comes with an idle start-stop system, which automatically cuts the engine when the engine is idling for a few seconds in neutral. It automatically restarts the engine when you pull the clutch in again. This is really helpful in increasing the mileage of the bike.
Riding Posture & Comfort
-
Riding the Splendor is quite a comfortable experience, both during short commutes and long trips, thanks to the upright and relaxed riding posture

-
Shorter city commutes are really comfortable thanks to the softly cushioned seat
-
Longer rides can become uncomfortable, as the rider tends to sink into seat due to the soft seat foam
Engine, Mileage & Performance
-
The Hero Splendor Plus gets time-trusted 97.2cc air-cooled engine that’s known for its reliability and high mileage
|
Engine |
Power |
Torque |
Transmission |
|
97.2cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine |
8.02PS |
8.05Nm |
4-speed |
-
Quick overtakes in the city are easy as the engine produces enough power and torque to keep up with traffic

-
Engine feels smooth and relaxed at city speeds
-
There are noticeable vibrations at speeds higher than 75kmph
-
The Splendor offers amazing mileage, and in our tests we got 83.2kmpl in the city and 95.8kmpl on the highway
Handling & Ride Quality
- Most bumps and potholes on road will be felt as the suspension is set slightly towards the stiffer side
- Riding with a pillion or luggage makes the ride quality better

- Easy and slow braking is alright, but hard braking requires some effort
- The bike feels agile and nimble to move around in traffic and tight spaces thanks to its lightweight
Should You Buy The Hero Splendor Plus?
-
The 2025 Hero Splendor Plus is one of the most reliable and frugal bikes in the 100cc commuter segment in India

-
It is quite suitable for someone who wants a bike for a hasslefree, easy everyday riding
-
The Splendor Plus is known for its ease of maintenance and Hero’s widespread service network makes it easy to service it anywhere in the country
-
It’s priced at par with its rivals, and also offers a decent set of features, making it a value-for-money bike. But now, the GST 2.0-led price drop has made it even more affordable.
-
Interestingly, Hero also sells another 100cc bike based on the Splendor, called the Hero HF Deluxe. Here are the differences.
-
If you’re wondering how the Splendor Plus stacks up against two of its biggest rivals: the Bajaj Platina 100 and the Honda Shine 100, this specification comparison will give you the answer.

- A perfect bike.A tough build quality with a massive mileage. This bike is budget friendly as it has a low price, consume less cost for maintainance and gives a very impressive mileage which makes this bike one of the best. So far, the ride was very smooth and comfortable. I was a little disappointed with the suspension which should have been more better. Overall this bike is perfect for small families and for the middle class family Yes, I totally recommend this bike to everyone, either if you have a low budget or high budget. But, middle class family should aim at this bike as it has compatibility, durability and mileage, which makes it a perfect choiceRead More4

- Unmatched Mileage and ReliabilityI needed a commuter bike for long-term reliability, and Splendor Plus was a natural option. I researched reviews online and spoke with existing owners. Everyone highlighted its unmatched mileage, which convinced me. The Splendor Plus shines in city traffic with light handling and great fuel efficiency. I usually get 65 kmpl. On highways, it feels limited at 80 kmph. After-sales service is accessible almost everywhere and very affordable. I suggest this bike to anyone who prioritizes durability and resale value. It is definitely designed for commuters and riders in the countryside. However,if you are looking for the thrill factor or tour capability or premium looks you will likely be disappointed.Read More
- First Bike with Proven DurabilitySplendor Plus was my first bike purchase, and I wanted something I wouldn’t regret. During research, I saw hundreds of owners praising its durability. The test ride was comfortable, and that finalized my choice over other 100cc options. I enjoy riding the Splendor Plus daily as it’s very practical. The seat is long and comfortable, mileage is amazing, and it requires minimal maintenance. At higher speeds, vibrations can be felt. Hero service is reliable and budget-friendly. Splendor Plus is great for office workers, college students, and middle-aged riders who just need a dependable commuter. But it won’t satisfy those who expect sporty looks, high top speed, or advanced technology.Read More
- Rugged Build and Great MileageI wanted a simple, fuss-free commuter for my village-to-town travel. Splendor Plus offered excellent mileage and strong build quality. I also checked the Bajaj Platina, but the wide service network of Hero influenced my choice. The riding experience is hassle-free. It gives me more than 60 kmpl regularly, which makes it economical. The bike is very light, which is good for city use. Negatives: limited top speed and basic features. Hero service is cheap and convenient. I would definitely recommend this bike to anyone who values efficiency, resale, and Hero’s service network. It’s perfect for regular city commutes. People wanting high speeds, power, or stylish looks should skip it.Read More
- Tried, Tested, and Trusted by FamilyThe Splendor Plus was chosen because I wanted a commuter bike that could last for years without major expenses. My father also owned one earlier, and his experience gave me confidence. That familiarity and trust sealed the deal. I find the Splendor Plus very reliable for daily commuting. It’s not flashy but does its job well. Mileage is excellent, and handling is effortless. It struggles a bit on highways at higher speeds. Service quality has been consistent. Yes, I would recommend Splendor Plus for riders in both urban and rural areas where fuel savings and easy service are important. Avoid it if you want high performance, luxury features, or a sporty-looking machine.Read More1
- Balanced, Comfortable, and AffordableFor me, affordability was a big factor. The Splendor Plus gave me a balance of price, mileage, and easy service. I looked at Platina as well, but Splendor felt more comfortable in seating and had a smoother engine. The bike has been a very economical partner for my daily rides. Handling is easy, even in heavy traffic. Mileage is great, but suspension could be softer on rough roads. Hero’s wide service network ensures I never worry about maintenance. This bike is highly recommended for anyone looking for simplicity and economy. Office-goers, students, and delivery riders will find it perfect. But speed lovers, feature seekers, or highway riders may not enjoy it.Read More2
- Fuel-Efficient and Widely RecommendedI chose the Splendor Plus mainly for fuel efficiency and low ownership cost. My buying journey was simple everyone I asked, from friends to mechanics, recommended Splendor. That word-of-mouth validation made me finalize it quickly. Riding the Splendor Plus is all about simplicity. It’s comfortable, easy to control, and fuel-efficient. The downside is that it’s not very fast, but for office commutes it’s perfect. Hero’s service support has been excellent so far. I’d suggest Splendor Plus to riders who want to save money and enjoy hassle-free ownership. It’s perfect for short-distance daily rides. Riders who crave sporty performance or long-distance comfort should avoid it.Read More
- Reliable with Great Resale ValueThe Splendor Plus stood out to me because of its long history of dependability. I didn’t want to experiment with new models. I compared it with TVS Radeon but the resale value, parts availability, and low service cost of Splendor made it the final choice. For daily city travel, the Splendor Plus is one of the most reliable bikes. It handles narrow streets easily and gives excellent mileage. On highways, I need to keep speeds moderate. After-sales service is smooth and parts are widely available. Splendor Plus is a good motorcycle for reasonable drivers who are interested in functionality and durability. It is not made for individuals who want to travel fast or want higher-end styling. It is hard to beat for basic commuting.Read More
- Best Mileage for Long CommutesI was looking for a commuter that would handle my 40 km daily travel economically. During research, Splendor Plus always came up as the king of mileage. I looked at Honda CD110 but decided on Splendor for its resale value and simple design. The Splendor Plus makes my office commute effortless. It’s extremely light and easy to park. Mileage is a big plus. Negatives are the lack of power and modern features. Service intervals are cheap and quick, which keeps maintenance stress-free. I’d recommend Splendor Plus to people who ride short to medium distances daily and want maximum savings on fuel. It’s not for youngsters who want stylish designs, fast speed, or advanced digital features.Read More
