Hero Super Splendor XTEC

The Super Splendor Xtec is a commuter bike from Hero MotoCorp. It is the most feature-loaded version of the Super Splendor and costs around Rs 4k more. It is Hero’s take on the Honda Shine in the 125cc commuter segment.

The Hero Super Splendor Xtec features a practical and straightforward commuter design which is similar to the Super Splendor, but a little more sporty. The Super Splendor Xtec gets sporty graphics and features square LED headlights which are complemented with chrome accents. The tail section has a slim and clean design. It comes in four colour options: Black, Matt Grey, Candy Blazing Red, and Matt Nexus Blue.

The Super Splendor XTEC offers an upgrade over the regular Super Splendor with its fully digital instrument cluster, similar to the Splendor Plus Xtec. This new cluster brings smartphone connectivity via Bluetooth which provides call and SMS alerts, real-time mileage, low fuel warnings, service reminders, and malfunction alerts, along with basic information and telltale lights.

The Hero Super Splendor Xtec features a well-padded single-piece seat, easy-to-reach handlebar and mid-set footpegs, which contribute to a relaxed and upright riding posture. It is a comfortable and lightweight bike that is very good at everyday commutes whether on the paved city roads or around the broken rural roads. The bike comes with a sleek single-piece grabrail that adds to the pillion's comfort. And with a seat height of 798mm, it is suitable for riders of most heights.

The Hero Super Splendor Xtec is equipped with the same 124.7cc air-cooled single-cylinder engine as the Super Splendor. It produces a peak output of 10.87PS at 7500rpm and 10.6Nm at 6000rpm, and is paired with a five-speed gearbox. The engine is refined and provides decent performance for everyday city commutes, while the gearbox also offers smooth shifts. The bike has a 10-litre fuel tank and offers a claimed mileage of 68kmpl, which is an impressive figure for a 125cc commuter.

The Hero Super Splendor handles well. It comes equipped with a telescopic fork at the front and five-step adjustable twin shocks at the rear, which helps the bike to easily ride over the bumps and potholes on the road. The suspension being neither too hard nor too soft, provides a good balance between comfortable daily commuting on Indian roads.

The Super Splendor comes with 130mm drum brakes on both ends, but there is also an optional disc variant that gets a 240mm front disc brake for better braking performance and added safety. The bike features 18-inch wheels that offer good stability. The bike changes directions quickly and is easy to handle overall, thanks to the kerb weight of 122kg for the drum variant and 123kg for the disc variant.
