Hero Splendor Plus Xtec: Features Explained
The Splendor Plus Xtec is for those who want the legendary reliability paired with a whole bunch of nifty, useful features

In Hero's commuter lineup, the Splendor+ Xtec slots between the base model (non-Xtec) and the more premium Xtec 2.0. It is available in two variants, Disc and Drum, costing Rs 81,083 and Rs 84,126 (both ex-showroom Delhi), respectively. Do note that there are only feature differences apart from the braking hardware. They all share the same 97.2cc air-cooled single-cylinder with 8.02PS and 8.05Nm on tap, working alongside a 4-speed gearbox.
Convenience Features
The Xtec version of the Hero Splendor Plus comes with an easy-to-read full-LCD instrument console. It houses a speedometer, a fuel gauge, odometer, dual tripmeters, a handy mileage indicator (useful to know how efficiently you are riding), fuel gauge, a customisable welcome screen, service reminder along with tell-tale lights.

Another headlining feature is the basic Bluetooth connectivity that enables call and SMS alerts, and also shows the smartphone’s battery level. There’s even a customisable welcome message which is more of a novelty feature if you ask me. Another important feature is the USB charging port on the left side of the console, so that you can charge your phone on-the-go. But note that the smartphone holder is sold separately. The bike also gets Hero’s idle start-stop tech that shuts off the engine when idling for a few seconds in traffic. You can turn the engine back on just by pulling the clutch lever. This helps in conserving fuel at heavy stop-go traffic. There’s an LED DRL, but the headlight, tail light and indicators are all halogen. The Splendor Plus Xtec is offered in three colour options.
Safety Features
The core mechanicals stay unchanged, but the Splendor+ Xtec adds several safety features. An optional 240mm front disc brake is available on the higher-priced Disc variant; the standard setup uses a 130mm drum at both ends. Both variants get a combined braking system to balance the braking forces between the rear and the front.
Other smaller safety features include a side stand indicator with an engine cut-off function (switches off the engine when the stand is down). The Bank Angle Sensor kills the engine if the motorcycle tips past a preset angle. Tubeless tyres deflate slowly when punctured, cutting the risk of sudden loss of control when compared to tubed tyres. Here is a detailed variants explainer of the Hero Splendor Plus Xtec.
BikeDekho Says

For just about Rs 3,000 over the base drum variant, the disc version offers much better value for money as it offers a significantly better braking experience compared to the drum variant. This feature alone makes it worth spending the extra premium.
As for the other features, the most useful one in my opinion is the mileage indicator, as it makes the entire process of calculating the mileage a whole lot easier. As for the mileage, Hero claims it can return 70kmpl on E20 fuel. Oh, and the standard 5-year (or 70,000km) warranty sweetens things even further, if you’re looking for a hassle-free 100cc bike.
