Bajaj Pulsar NS200 Expert Review
Overview

The Bajaj Pulsar NS200 is one of the most popular contenders in the 200-250cc sports naked bike class in the Indian market. The 2023 iteration received the first significant update and it was the first-ever Bajaj product developed in collaboration with KTM and received significant hardware updates. It offers great performance, appealing looks and likable handling which makes it a desirable motorcycle within the segment.
Design
-
The Bajaj Pulsar NS200 retains its streetfighter style which I find very appealing with aggressive styling and sharp looking tank shrouds. However, Bajaj updated the Pulsar NS200 in 2024 with sportier body graphics, which makes it look more muscular than before.

- Overall, the design has been the same for more than a decade but the NS200 still manages to look attractive enough

- It is now available in four colour schemes: Cocktail Wine Red – White, Glossy Ebony Black, Metallic Pearl White and Pewter Grey – Blue. The colour which I find the most attractive is the Metallic Pearl White paint scheme
Features
- The Bajaj Pulsar NS200 gets a decent feature list and good hardware when it comes to convenience. The LED headlight looks quite aggressive, though some might like it some may not like it

- It gets a digital instrument cluster which is quite easy to read and shows almost all necessary information, however the older console with an analogue tachometer used to look quite interesting

-
The console supports Bluetooth connectivity and is easy to connect. It allows for turn-by-turn navigation which is a very useful feature and I found myself using it a lot

-
The display also has a gear-position indicator, distance-to-empty, real-time mileage and average fuel economy

-
Bajaj NS 200 also gets the safety net of dual-channel ABS
Riding Posture & Comfort
-
The Bajaj Pulsar NS200 gets a split-seat setup which is quite comfortable, though the bike gets raised clip-on handlebars, slightly rear set footpegs and a slightly leaned forward riding posture

-
I found it quite comfortable for my 6-foot frame and I was able to spend long hours on the saddle very easily

-
The seat is firmer which meant I was uncomfortable on my short daily commutes but on the longer rides, it provided good amount of comfort

-
With a low seat height of 807mm, getting on the Pulsar NS200 will not be an issue for shorter riders

-
The pillion seat is quite narrow which is alright for shorter distance rides but on the longer journeys, pillions tend to feel uncomfortable

-
Footpegs are also set quite high which meant the pillion behind me sat in an uncomfortable, knees-up posture
Engine, Mileage & Performance
|
Engine |
Power |
Torque |
Gearbox |
|
199cc |
24.5PS |
18.74Nm |
6-speed |
-
The liquid cooled engine does a great job of keeping temperature levels low in peak traffic while not feeling too stressed

-
The bike makes most of its power at higher RPM which means that I had to work the gearbox quite a bit to extract the engine’s power

- It lacks bottom and mid-range punch and it is less energetic than its rivals but the overall acceleration is quite good

- The motor is quite smooth and riding it in the city was pleasurable thanks to good engine characteristics

-
On the highway though, I found the Pulsar NS200 very enjoyable as the bike can easily maintain triple-digit speeds

-
As I commute quite a bit on the highways daily, the bike is in its sweet spot and has a very minimal amount of vibration
Handling & Ride Quality
-
The Pulsar NS200 is a sporty bike overall with a well-tuned suspension and a light steering, which means that I was able to flick the bike from one corner to another very easily

-
Riding in the city is also quite fun as the bike feels very light

-
It gets a 300mm disc at the front and a 230mm disc at the rear with dual-channel ABS

-
Though the brakes are good, the bike’s front end felt a bit jittery and failed to inspire confidence in me during hard braking

-
It comes with an inverted telescopic fork and a preload-adjustable monoshock

-
I found the suspension to be very balanced for my 85kg frame as the bike absorbs potholes and speed breakers effortlessly

-
Even with a pillion, the bike’s suspension is tuned in such a way that it feels settled and does not lose its composure while going over bad roads
Should you buy Bajaj Pulsar NS200
-
If I was in the market for a 200cc sports naked motorcycle which has enough power to keep me occupied in the city and have enough performance for my weekend rides, the Pulsar NS200 is a great fit
-
With revised styling, dual-channel ABS, digital instrument cluster and agile handling characteristics, the Pulsar NS200 is a great choice for beginners who are looking for an upgrade from a commuter motorcycle without having the need to empty their pockets

-
After spending quite some time with the Bajaj Pulsar NS200, I can confidently say that it is still a relevant motorcycle despite being over a decade old

-
But still, if we compare it to its similarly priced rivals, the NS 200 has started to show its age and the rivals offer better performance, features and new design language
📝Redditors’ Opinions on Bajaj Pulsar NS200
The Pulsar NS200 earns praise for its highway performance, engine refinement, and rider-focused design. Riders appreciate its affordability, sporty design, and daily use versatility. However, criticisms arise regarding outdated design, lack of innovation, and inconsistent build quality. While many love its thrill and value-for-money performance, others call for modern features and improvements.

NS200. Once you ride 6sp gearbox you never go back.....great for highways.....engine runs stress free with 6 gears. RTR doesn't have good road feel or the rapid power response. I've ridden the F250....engine noise (not exhaust note) felt like a tractor at top wack (120kmph +)....NS though rides like a champ. Ride it sanely you even get 37kmpl. The new one has USD forks and Dual channel ABS ....made the bike more dynamic to ride. (I own 22 model...rear locks up like crazy) Do take a test ride and find out. 🍻. - says beerguy_tcr
-
Looks like they've redone the headlights and used the new digital instrument cluster. Honestly ns200 engine is already very good. Just tweak it lil bit, give it some modern features like quickshifter and they're golden. Also ffs bajaj take the Duke 390 engine and put it in either the NS or N frames. Price is slightly lesser and watch it sell like crazy - says ImpressiveTip4756
-
The pulsar series is tuned for city usage with low end torque and high mileage.. designed for elders and pillion. To an average person it all seems the same but for a bike enthusiast/geek, they all are very different in terms if how they deliver power or feel. Also the reason why they dont change their parts and designs much is to keep the parts CHEAP, and affordable for students and lower class. Bajaj never targetted the upper class. It wanted middle classes to enjoy the bikes as much without worrying about the maintenance of the likes of ktm. - says AmazingInflation58
-
Awesome choice and congratulations. I also bought one couple of months ago. Since you are newbie and this bike has single channel ABS, I would suggest you to be very careful when you are braking. Never panic brake. Do a proper PDI before signing any document. I didn't do it and after bringing my bike home I found it was dropped by the guys at the showroom. Nothing major, thankfully. Lastly, get a quality helmet and riding gloves. -Says Anonymous user
-
Pure adrenaline rush is the correct word to express it the experience of opening the throttle in ns200. - says Future_Cauliflower73
-
I liked the analog rpm gauge. They should have kept it and integrated the rest in the digital portion of the old display. - says Lord_Diefast
🟡 3 Mixed Opinions
-
It's an awesome bike no questions, but I can't believe the hype and excitement for just new lights and a digital display. From Bajaj and the fans, both 🤦🏼♂️- says Hefty-Acanthaceae-92
-
My personal pick will be the r15. it's one of the most fun bikes out there . But the r15 is also one of the most committed (basically aggressive riding posture) bikes out there, so it might be uncomfortable for you. Get a test ride and see if the bike is comfortable enough for you.- says NorthstarIND
-
I'd take the slipper clutch over traction control. But it's not like either of them matter much on a 200cc.- says NorthstarIND
❌ 4 Negative Opinions
-
The tail light desperately needs a change. It also looks like an angry pug, hopefully, some changes are made.- says Anonymous user
-
Unpopular opinion but it looks like a mix of half fared bike with underpart of a sports bike.- says 6UwO9
-
I hope they change the fairings on the side, looks too toy-ish in some colors.- says N30_117
-
Right now the review for NS200 are to ditch it, spend the extra money and get NS400. I totally agree. N250 is a better option if you can't spend extra..- says Livid-Cheek7846

- NH 200 best bikeI choose the Bajaj pulsar ns200 for its combination of strong performance aggressive styling and excellent value for money within the 200cc segment. It is a popular choice for riders looking for a good performance machine in a budget. The Bajaj pulsar ns200 generally offers a fun and capable ride praised for its engine performance sporty handling and comfortable ergonomics for city and some longer rides. However some riders note that the engine can feel coarse with vibrations at higher RPM and the pillion seat is considered uncomfortable for long trips. The pulsar ns200 is worth considering if you prioritise strong performance and sharp handling at an affordable price making it a good option for city and occasional highway riding. However it may not be the best choice if you want modern features as it lacks some advance feature and has some drawbacks such as poor rear brake feel uncomfortable pillion seat and dated styling.Read More3

- Choosing the Best Bike for My FiancéI decided to buy bike for my fiancé because he is truly passionate about bikes. Before finalising it we checked different options. We compared features such as engine power, comfort, riding posture, mileage and overall reliability. After visiting showroom and taking feedback from friends who already own this bike we were confident that this was best option. The buying process was simple. Our riding experience has been great. We took long ride to Dehradun and the bike performed smoothly throughout the journey. The seat felt comfortable for long distances and the suspension handled mountain curves with good stability. - Buy through advice of my uncleI have been in corporate sector for the last 2 years and used to rely on public transport for daily commuting. Sometimes I got late and sometimes the bus or train was delayed so reaching the office on time was a challenge. My uncle who owns his own vehicle always advised me to buy a bike that could help me reach the office on time and also provide good performance. He suggested the Bajaj Pulsar NS200 which cost me around 1.55 lakh after discount. I primarily use it for office commuting and occasionally for rides with my family to the market. Riding this bike has been really enjoyable. The mileage comes around 35–40 kmpl which is lower than my previous bike but understandable considering its 200 cc engine and sporty performance. I usually carry just a laptop bag and sometimes a colleague joins me on the way back. Despite being more powerful bike it handles both solo and pillion rides smoothly. I have also taken it on long rides and it performs consistently without compromising on fuel efficiency compared to other sports bikes in its segment. Yes, if you are looking for powerful bike suitable for daily commuting and occasional long rides the Bajaj Pulsar NS200 is a good option. I bought it in 2023 primarily for office commuting but after using it on longer rides I can say it never lacks performance even with a passenger. Overall I find this bike worth the investment and a reliable companion for both city and highway rides.Read More2
- Rides with Bajaj Pulsar NS200We started trying night rides after seeing others enjoy it, and it became fun for us too. This scooter moves well on open streets and small turns. Good for short evening trips, quick stops, and exploring calm roads together without stress. We wanted something for short night outings and small highway stretches. This scooter fits well, steady on turns, and doesn’t feel tiring on longer routes. Easy to manage during slow city parts and open patches, making couple rides smooth and enjoyable. Good option for couples who want to begin with small night trips. It handles city lanes, open roads, and small detours without trouble. Ride feels relaxed, and stops for views or tea breaks become easy. Perfect for simple weekend escapes.Read More
- Confidence on Every CommuteI needed bike that made my daily office rides smooth and stylish. During one morning walk I noticed neighbour effortlessly maneuver his Pulsar NS200. Its agile handling and bold design convinced me to test ride. After comparing a few models I realised NS200 offered the right balance of speed, control and city comfort. Daily riding has become enjoyable. Quick acceleration, responsive brakes and stable handling make city traffic manageable. Long rides feel comfortable and overtaking is effortless. The bike handles small bumps and tight corners with ease making every trip confident and stress free. Definitely. Professionals seeking bike that combines style, performance and confidence will appreciate NS200. It is great for city commuting, weekend rides or quick errands. Riders looking for a purely budget scooter might consider other options but for speed and handling NS200 is good.Read More
- Routine broken by a stranger’s rideOne of my closest friends bought Pulsar NS200 and suddenly started getting all the attention in our group everyone wanted him to pick them up, drop them, ride with them. Even my younger brother wouldn’t stop talking about how cool the bike looked. I pretended I did not care but inside I was burning. So instead of competing in the group chat I went straight to the dealership and checked the bike myself. The moment I sat on it and felt how aggressive yet comfortable it was I knew I was taking it home. Call it jealousy or motivation it worked. I still remember the first night ride I did alone. The streets were half-empty and every time I accelerated the engine note echoed between buildings it felt addictive. Last week my brother asked if he could take it to college and I ended up dropping him myself just so I could ride it longer. Even in crowded lanes it stays sharp and responsive and on open stretches it feels like it’s urging me to go a little further each time. Honestly it turned my regular routes into something I actually enjoy now. Definitely. It's the kind of bike that not only stands out but makes you feel a little extra confident every time you ride it. And yes if your friends brag about their bikes this one will easily shut them up in the best possible way.Read More
- Motivation hit with NS200’s powerI had always been someone who avoided fast or powerful bikes I stuck to simple scooters for years. But one evening I went to pick up my cousin from his office and he arrived on his NS200. The way it sounded, the confidence it carried and the firm stance immediately caught my attention. He offered me a short ride inside the parking area and that tiny moment completely changed my mind. It felt like the bike that challenged me to grow out of my comfort zone. Within week I found myself at the showroom signing papers I never thought I would. The proper ride I took was with two friends to a nearby dam road early in the morning. The bike responded to every twist of a throttle like it knew exactly what I was want. I did not expect to enjoy riding with this kind of the energy but NS200 made whole experience feel refreshing rather than intimidating. Every time I ride it now I feel a little more fearless than before. Yes, especially to people who want something that excites them without feeling uncontrollable. The NS200 has this perfect balance it pushes you just enough to feel alive but keeps you grounded at the same time. If someone wants a bike that brings back the joy of riding without losing practicality this one is worth every bit of attention.Read More1
