About Bajaj Pulsar NS 125

The Bajaj Pulsar NS125 is an entry-level naked street bike and a sportier sibling of the Bajaj Pulsar 125. Bajaj had recently updated the bike with a LED headlight and a digital instrument console and now the bike is more feature packed than before!

The Pulsar NS125 goes up against the Hero Xtreme 125R, another sporty 125cc bike. Here’s how they compare.

Bajaj Pulsar NS125 Price:

The Bajaj Pulsar NS125 is offered in a single variant and is priced at Rs 1,00,422 (ex-showroom, Delhi). The bike is available in four colours: Fiery Orange, Burnt Red, Beach Blue and Pewter Grey.

Bajaj Pulsar NS125 Engine:

The Bajaj Pulsar NS125 gets a 124.45cc, air-cooled engine that produces 11.99PS at 8500rpm and 11Nm at 7000rpm. The engine is paired with a 5-speed transmission.

Bajaj Pulsar NS125 Suspension & Brakes:

The Pulsar NS125 is suspended on a telescopic fork and monoshock. Braking duties are handled by a 240mm disc at the front and a 130mm drum at the rear, with a combined braking system (CBS) as standard. The bike rolls on 17-inch wheels with 80-section front and 100-section rear tubeless tyres. 

The seat height of the bike is 805mm and ground clearance is 179mm. The bike has a 12-litre fuel tank.

Bajaj Pulsar NS125 Key Features:

The Bajaj Pulsar NS125 gets a fully digital instrument console. The console displays readouts like speed, fuel level, tachometer readings, gear position and trip meter and odometer readings along with distance-to-empty (DTE) and real-time mileage. The console misses out on smartphone connectivity and related features like turn-by-turn navigation and Call/SMS alerts.

Overview

The Bajaj Pulsar NS125 is an affordable, performance-oriented bike best suited for beginner and intermediate riders who wish to have a sporty commuter for their daily rides. 

Inspired by the highly successful Pulsar NS200, the Pulsar NS125 is the entry-level model in the Bajaj Pulsar NS range of sporty-looking performance commuters. Bajaj updated the Pulsar NS125 with new features in April 2024, with its prices now starting at Rs 1.04 lakh (ex-showroom, India).

Design

The 2024 Bajaj Pulsar NS125 resembles its larger siblings, the NS160 and NS200, but with different colours and graphics. While the overall design of the Pulsar NS125 has remained unchanged, the new graphics make the motorcycle look fresher. 

Another element that makes the new 2024 Pulsar NS125 more eye-catching is the new all-LED headlamp, which also features thunderbolt-shaped daytime running LEDs. However, unlike the NS160 and NS200, which also get LED turn indicators, the Pulsar NS125 continues to come with clear-lens bulb-type turn indicators.

The sporty-looking fuel tank and minimalist tail section of the Bajaj Pulsar NS125 have remained the same. Like the more powerful NS models, the Pulsar NS125 offers split seats, clip-on handlebars, split pillion grab rails, a rear tyre hugger, and backlit switches.

Engine, Mileage & Performance

There are no real changes to the Bajaj Pulsar NS125's single-cylinder, air-cooled, 124.5cc engine, which still delivers a power output of 12 PS at 8500 rpm and peak torque of 11Nm at 7000 rpm. The 5-speed transmission is also the same as before and provides the same slick gear shifting.

With a strong midrange performance, this engine feels peppy above 5000 rpm and can pull seamlessly to its redline, making quick overtaking easier. You can cruise through highways at 70-80kmph, but you may feel mild vibrations on the footpegs and fuel tank at higher speeds.

The Bajaj Pulsar NS125 offers good performance and doesn't disappoint when it comes to fuel efficiency. Its real-world tested mileage is 64.75kmpl in the city and 56.46kmpl in highway riding conditions. It has a 12-litre fuel tank, which is adequate for slightly longer rides.

Handling & Ride Quality

Weighing just 144 kg, the Pulsar NS125 has a short wheelbase, nimble steering, and grippy tyres, all of which make riding through tight traffic a breeze. The telescopic fork suspension at the front and monoshock suspension at the rear offer decent ride quality. However, the skinnier tyres don't inspire as much confidence as the NS160 or NS200 when cornering at higher speeds. 

The Bajaj Pulsar NS125 comes equipped with a 240 mm front disc brake and a 130mm rear drum brake with a combined braking system. While the brakes provide adequate bite when braking hard, they don't feel super sharp or precise. 

Comfort

Despite its image as a sporty motorcycle, the Bajaj Pulsar NS125 offers decently comfortable ergonomics for riding. Its lower-set clip-on handlebars and mildly rear-set foot pegs make the riding posture a bit aggressive for a 125cc motorcycle. However, the riding posture doesn't feel uncomfortable, and the split seats keep pillion riders comfortable too.

The Bajaj Pulsar NS125 offers a comfortable experience for riders of average height, with a not-so-tall seat height of 805mm. Surprisingly, despite an underbelly exhaust, the Pulsar NS125 has a good ground clearance of 179 mm.

Features

With the latest update, the 2024 Bajaj Pulsar NS125 has a full-LCD instrument console, which has become a standard feature in all Pulsar models. However, it misses out on turn-by-turn navigation. The Pulsar NS125 also gets segment-first backlit switches and a USB charger.

 

Should you buy

The Bajaj Pulsar NS125 is among the most expensive 125cc motorcycles in the market, but it justifies its premium positioning with segment-leading performance figures. It's an excellent choice for first-time buyers and even those who want to graduate to bigger and more powerful motorcycles from entry-level commuters.
