    Honda Shine 125

The Honda Shine 125 may be India’s second best-selling bike overall, but more importantly, it is the best-selling 125cc bike. It may look conventional, but the fit and finish, along with the colour schemes are premium. More importantly, it comes with the trademark Japanese refinement engineering, making it a favourite bike for those who want a slightly more powerful bike than a 110cc motorcycle but without compromising on mileage.

Honda sold an impressive 1,35,076 units of this commuter bike in January 2026. This shows an increment of 7.26% in terms of the MoM sales, while the YoY sales were down by 10%. That said, the Limited Edition Shine 125 launch in February should help in bringing the numbers up for that month.

Here is how the Honda Shine 125 competes with the feature loaded TVS Raider 125 in a detailed comparison.

It may not sound like much when compared to the Splendor, but it is still a healthy 31.58% increment in terms of Month-on-Month sales; while the Year-on-Year sales were up by 13.21%.

    • TVS Apache RTR 180
Blend of both style and practicality
RTR 180 and 160 2V both may not feel so comfortable at first and it require some time to get used to over long urban commutes. Good for touring as well, best with speeds upto 80-90 kmph and vibrates a lot after that. Decent mileage. Easy on pocket ownership cost. Became more affordable post GST 2.0. Go for it if you are looking for a motorcycle that is simple yet sporty.

      VERY GOOD PERFORMANCE
Service and maintenance charge is normal, mileage is 50 - 55 kmpl on highway, 45-50 kmpl in cities and streets. Overall, it is a quite good bike with good performance and minimal costs. Everyday rides upto hundred kms can be done easily, I ride daily around 80 kms and it is very easy for me and it's a sports bike even with only 125 CC engine.

      City ride with Hf deluxe
I chose the HF Deluxe because it is known for reliability, low maintenance cost, and excellent fuel efficiency, which suits daily commuting needs. Being a product from Hero MotoCorp, it also gives confidence in terms of service network and resale value. The ride so far has been quite smooth and comfortable for city use. The seat is well cushioned and the suspension handles rough roads decently. Mileage is a strong point easily giving around 65 to 70 km per litre which makes it very economical. The bike is lightweight so handling is easy especially in traffic, However speed and power are limited it is not built for aggressive riding On highways it performs okay at moderate speeds 50 to 70 km per hour but feels slightly underpowered if you try to push beyond that. Yes I would definitely recommend this bike to anyone looking for a budget friendly low maintenance daily commuter especially for city rides rather than long highway touring and for office use daily updow
