Yamaha MT-09

The Yamaha MT-09 has been showcased at Auto Expo 2025 along with other Yamaha big bikes.

The MT-09 comes equipped with an 890cc, liquid-cooled, three-cylinder engine that makes 119PS at 10,000rpm and 93Nm at 7,000rpm. It is mated to a 6-speed transmission with a slipper clutch and a bi-directional quickshifter as standard. It also gets an AMT variant, with a switch on the left side of the handlebar for gear shifts.

The Japanese streetfighter gets an all-LED lighting setup and features a 5-inch TFT instrument cluster with smartphone connectivity and turn-by-turn navigation. It also comes with three riding modes: Sport, Street, and Rain, along with two additional customisable modes for a personalised riding experience. Other rider aids on the bike include a cruise control feature, cornering traction control, wheelie control and cornering ABS.

The MT-09 is suspended on an inverted fork and a monoshock. The more premium and sporty SP variant is fitted with fully adjustable suspension consisting of a KYB inverted fork and an Ohlins monoshock. The bike uses 298mm dual disc brakes with a radially-mounted Brembo master cylinder at the front and a 245mm disc brake at the rear. The MT-09 rides on 17-inch wheels, fitted with 120-section front and 180-section rear Bridgestone Battlax Hypersport s23 tyres.

We expect the Yamaha MT-09 to launch in India by the end of 2025. Once launched, it will rival other powerful naked bikes like the Triumph Street Triple 765, Kawasaki Z900, Ducati Monster, and BMW F 900 R.
