Yamaha MT-09 Price
The 2025 Yamaha MT-09 is expected to be priced at around Rs 11 lakh (ex-showroom) in India. This would put it on par with the Triumph Street Triple 765 R, above the Kawasaki Z900, but cheaper than the Ducati Monster or BMW F900 R.

Yamaha MT-09 Variants
Globally, the MT-09 is offered in multiple variants including the standard MT-09, the higher-spec MT-09 SP, and the recently introduced MT-09 Y-AMT (Automated Manual Transmission) variant. However, Yamaha only showcased the standard MT-09 at Bharat Mobility Global Auto Expo 2025 - with no confirmation yet about the SP or Y-AMT variants being launched.

Yamaha MT-09 Design
The Yamaha MT-09 gets a typical streetfighter design language, with styling that emphasizes its aggressive character. It has a compact dual-LED projector headlamp setup with a sharp ‘robotic’ look as the brand calls it. The bike has a muscular fuel tank with sharp extensions, a minimalist tail section, gold-coloured inverted fork, and sculpted body panels - all complementing the overall sporty stance.

Yamaha MT-09 Engine
The Yamaha MT-09 is powered by an 890cc, liquid-cooled, three-cylinder engine. This motor produces 119PS at 10,000rpm, 93Nm at 7,000rpm, is paired to a 6-speed gearbox with a slipper clutch and gets a bidirectional quickshifter as standard.

Yamaha MT-09 Chassis, Brakes, Wheels, Suspension
The Yamaha MT-09 is built on an aluminium frame. The suspension consists of fully-adjustable KYB parts at both ends: a 41mm inverted fork and monoshock. The higher-spec SP variant gets an Ohlins fully-adjustable monoshock. Braking is handled by dual 298mm front disc brakes with radially mounted Brembo calipers and a 245mm rear disc brake. The MT-09 rides on 17-inch alloy wheels, wrapped in a 120-section front and an 180-section rear tubeless tyres. The bike has a kerb weight of 193kg, a seat height of 820mm, 135mm of ground clearance, and a fuel tank capacity of 14 litres.

Yamaha MT-09 Features
The MT-09 comes equipped with a 5-inch, full-colour TFT console with smartphone connectivity via the Yamaha MyRide app, with call/SMS alerts and turn-by-turn navigation. The headlamp is anLED projector setup with DRLs . In terms of rider aids, the MT-09 offers lean-sensitive traction control, wheelie control, lean-sensitive ABS, cruise control, and a bidirectional quickshifter. Additional features include self-cancelling indicators and Emergency Stop Signal (ESS). The Y-AMT variant, which features an Automated Manual Transmission, includes a handlebar-mounted gear-shift switch, allowing riders to shift without a clutch lever. It also gets 5 ride modes: Street, Sport, and Rain, and 2 customisable ones.

Yamaha MT-09 Competition
The Yamaha MT-09 rivals other middleweight naked bikes such as the Triumph Street Triple 765 R, Kawasaki Z900, Ducati Monster, and the BMW F900 R. Among these, the Kawasaki Z900 is the most affordable, while the Ducati Monster sits on the premium end. The Triumph Street Triple 765 R is praised for its track focus, while the BMW F900 R focuses on versatility. The MT-09 strikes a strong balance between price, performance, and technology - offering more power than most of its direct rivals in this segment.
