Overview

The Yamaha R2 could be launched in India on August 27, 2026. The name "YZF-R2" has also been trademarked in India by the brand. It's likely that the Japanese brand may use the Yamaha R15 as the base and make a larger-engined version along with several modifications to the chassis to go with the extra performance.

Consequently, expect the design to remain somewhat similar. This isn't necessarily a bad thing as R15 fans love the design. We might see some tweaks to distinguish it from the smaller bike, though. Yamaha might slot this between the R15 and the Yamaha R3, so expect it to cost somewhere around Rs 2.15 lakh (ex-showroom). If our guesstimate is correct, it will be in the same price point as the KTM RC200, which will be its only rival.
