The Yamaha unveiled the 2021 MT-07 overseas. It takes its design cues from the MT-09 which means it gets a new LED headlight flanked by LED DRLs, a new tail light design and LED turn indicators. The fuel tank design along with the rear quarter panels have been redesigned. Mode details here.

The instrument console is all new as well; however, it’s still an LCD unit. The bike is powered by the same 680cc parallel-twin engine which has been retuned to comply with Euro5/BS6 emission norms. It makes 73.4PS and 67Nm -- 1.4PS and 1Nm less than its predecessor. Yamaha claims the engine has been tuned for a linear power delivery.

In terms of hardware, the 2021 Yamaha MT-07 carries over the same diamond frame from the previous-gen model. Its suspension setup comprises of a telescopic fork and a monoshock. The 2021 model comes equipped with a larger 298mm disc brake up front instead of the old 282mm units. There's also a change in tyres: the new bike uses grippier Michelin Road 5 rubber. These updates have led to a weight gain of 1.3kg -- it now tips the scale at 184kg kerb. The seat, though, is fairly accessible at 805mm. 

The 2021 MT-07 is priced at $7,700 (Rs 5.45 lakh) in Europe. Yamaha says deliveries for the bike are expected to commence from March 2021. While it's unlikely, if Yamaha does brings the MT-07 to India at a competitive price tag, it could take on the likes of the Kawasaki Z650 and the upcoming Triumph Trident.
