Overview
The Honda Rebel 500 is Honda's middleweight cruiser designed for riders looking for a stylish lifestyle motorcycle with relaxed ergonomics. It was previously sold in India as a Completely Built Unit (CBU) at Rs 5.49 lakh, but the upcoming made-in-India version is expected to be significantly more affordable. It will be offered in Standard and E-Clutch variants, with an expected launch later this year.

Design
The Rebel 500 is all about looking the part of a factory custom bobber. Its round LED headlight, wide handlebars, chunky tyres, teardrop-shaped fuel tank, and scooped-out seat scream attitude. If we were to nitpick, we would have loved it if Honda had given it a unique look as it closely resembles the smaller Rebel 300.

Features
Safety Features
The Rebel 500 comes equipped with dual-channel ABS, traction control, and a slip-and-assist clutch that reduces rear-wheel hop during aggressive downshifts while keeping clutch operation lighter.
Convenience Features
The motorcycle gets a TFT console along with Honda RoadSync smartphone connectivity and turn-by-turn navigation. On the other hand the E-Clutch variant adds Honda's clutch-free shifting technology, allowing riders to shift gears without operating the clutch lever. It also prevents stalling while coming to a halt.

Riding Posture & Comfort
Rider Comfort
With its low 700mm seat height, mid-mounted footpegs, and wide handlebar, the Rebel 500 offers a relaxed riding position. The low seat makes it especially accessible for shorter riders and beginners.
Pillion Comfort
The pillion seat is compact and should be comfortable for short city rides. However, it might be a point of concern for riders planning for long-distance touring with a passenger.

Engine, Mileage & Performance
City & Highway Performance
The Rebel 500 is powered by a 471cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine, known for smooth power delivery. It should offer effortless city performance while remaining comfortable at highway cruising speeds. While it’s capable of effortlessly cruising at triple-digit speeds, you might want to beware of the fact that you’ll have to wrestle with wind blasts at such speeds.
Gearbox
The engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox. The Standard variant uses a conventional manual clutch, whereas the E-Clutch variant allows riders to either automate clutch operation or use it manually.

Handling & Ride Quality
Brakes
The Rebel 500 gets disc brakes at both ends with dual-channel ABS as standard, offering confident braking performance.
Handling & Ride Quality
Built around a tubular steel frame, the motorcycle uses telescopic forks and dual rear shock absorbers. Expect the ride quality to be good enough for smooth roads. That said, this isn’t the most ideal motorcycle to buy if you’re frequently riding on bad roads. As for the handling, the Rebel is best for highways with long sweeping curves rather than ghat roads with tight turns.

Rivals To Consider
The Honda Rebel 500 will rival the Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650, Kawasaki Eliminator, and the Benelli 502C. With the beginner rider-friendly e-clutch tech, the Rebel 500 has an advantage over its rivals, but only its pricing will determine its success.
