Honda CBR500R Highlights

The Honda CBR500R is likely to be launched in India by the end of 2020. It will be Honda’s first parallel-twin faired motorcycle to be launched in India and will go head-to-head with the Kawasaki Ninja 400. The Honda CBR500R is powered by a 471cc parallel-twin liquid-cooled motor which churns out 47.5PS at 8600rpm and 43Nm at 6500rpm. It works alongside a 6-speed transmission with assist and slipper clutch.

Suspension components include a 41mm telescopic front fork with spring preload adjustability. The rear gets a preload-adjustable Pro-link monoshock. It comes to a halt using a 320mm front and a 240mm rear disc with dual-channel ABS.

The Honda CBR500R is likely to be priced at around Rs 5 lakh (ex-showroom) and will enter the country via the CKD route. Based on the market response, the company might also fully localise the motorcycle in the future. But that’s still some time away.

The bike progresses on 120/70ZR - 17M/C front and 160/60ZR - 17M/C rear tubeless tyres with robust multi spoke cast aluminium alloy wheels. The bike avails a comfortable and stress free ride as it comes equipped with conventional 41mm telescopic forks upfront and Pro link monoshock with 9 stage adjuster at the rear end. The fierce stopping power is provided by 320mm single wavy disc brake at the front and 240mm single wavy disc brake at the rear that works fine in all conditions.
