Kawasaki Ninja 500 Overview
The Kawasaki Ninja 500 replaced the Ninja 400 globally and offers an updated engine along with subtle design updates. Despite being an entry-level supersport, it draws design inspiration from Kawasaki’s larger bikes like the Ninja ZX-6R and Ninja ZX-10R, offering big-bike styling with approachable performance.
Kawasaki Ninja 500 Price
The 2026 Kawasaki Ninja 500 is priced at Rs 5.76 lakh, while the 2025 version is available at Rs 5.66 lakh, both prices ex-showroom Delhi. This makes it much more expensive than the Aprilia RS 457.
Kawasaki Ninja 500 Colour Options
The 2026 Kawasaki Ninja 500 is available in a single colour option: Lime Green. While the 2025 version is available in a Metallic Carbon Gray shade.
Kawasaki Ninja 500 Variants
Currently, the bike is available in two versions, 2026 and 2025.

Kawasaki Ninja 500 Design
The Ninja 500 carries the sharp, aggressive styling typical of Kawasaki’s Ninja family. It gets a twin LED headlight setup, a large front fairing, and a muscular fuel tank that adds to the sporty look. The fairing has sharp lines, while the upswept tail section complements its aggressive stance. Despite the design being largely an evolution rather than a revolution, the Ninja 500 still turns heads.

Kawasaki Ninja 500 Engine
The Ninja 500 is powered by a 451cc liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine, which produces 45.4PS at 9,000rpm and 42.6Nm at 6,000rpm. For 2026, Kawasaki made this motor E-20 compliant. It comes paired with a 6-speed gearbox with an assist and slipper clutch.

Kawasaki Ninja 500 Chassis, Brakes, Wheels & Suspension
The Ninja 500 uses a steel trellis frame, a 41mm telescopic fork with 120mm wheel travel, and a gas-charged, preload-adjustable rear monoshock with 130mm wheel travel. Braking hardware includes a 310mm front and 220mm rear disc - both with dual-piston calipers, dual-channel ABS. It rides on 17-inch alloy wheels wrapped in a 110-section front and a 150-section rear, Dunlop Sportmax GPR-300 tyres. It has a 785mm seat height, 145mm ground clearance, a 14 litre fuel tank, and a 171kg kerb weight.

Kawasaki Ninja 500 Features
The Ninja 500 has a 5-inch negative LCD console with Bluetooth connectivity via Kawasaki’s Rideology app, navigation, notifications, Eco indicator, and all-LED lighting. However, it misses out on ride modes, traction control, a quickshifter, adjustable levers - which are increasingly becoming standard in this segment.

Kawasaki Ninja 500 Competition
The Kawasaki Ninja 500 competes directly with the Aprilia RS 457. The RS is quite a lot cheaper than the Ninja, and still has a lot of modern features.
Pros & Cons
Good Things
- 451cc twin-cylinder engine can handle everything: slow commutes, fast commutes, touring and even hardcore track days…all of it while being very easy to ride even for slightly inexperienced riders
- Looks - while the design hasn’t undergone a major change in years, the Ninja 500 is still a very good looking bike and will grab a lot of attention
- Handling - feels very nimble flicking from one corner to the other and once leaned over, the bike feels very stable as well
Could Be Better
- Lack of features - the Ninja 500 misses out on traction control, navigation, a quickshifter and even adjustable levers, features that a lot of lower-priced bikes have as standard
- Price - at Rs 5,24,000 (ex-showroom India), the Ninja 500 is a lot more expensive than its closest rival, the Aprilia RS 457, which costs Rs 4,10,000 (ex-showroom Delhi)
- The Ninja 500 is only available in one colourway: Metallic Spark Black, which is quite subtle. It not being offered in Kawasaki’s signature Lime Green
