Honda CBR 150 R Expert Review

April 1, 2016: Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India Private Limited (HMSI) had launched the updated version of the Honda CBR 150R, which was first unveiled at Honda’s RevFest earlier in 2015. The bike remains the same mechanically but features some cosmetic updates. It is powered by a 149.4cc, single-cylinder, four-stroke engine that produces 18.28 bhp. The company offers it in three colors - Green, Blue and Red and it competes with the Yamaha YZF-R15 in the Indian market.

HMSI crafted the bike nicely on the diamond type frame. The front fascia of the bike features a uniquely designed headlight with twin pilot lamps inspired by Honda’s new generation sports motorcycle. The vehicle is furnished with full front fairing, racing stripes, wider tyres, dual disc brakes, split seat with an edgy rear end and robust muffler that helps it to get awareness spontaneously. Talking about instrumentation, it is same as its elder sibling CBR250 that displays the information about analogue tachometer and digital speedometer, fuel gauge, trip meter, engine temperature, clock and other tell tales.

Honda CBR 150R rides on 100/80-17-inch front and 130/80-17-inch rear wide tubeless tyres that are fitted over an elegant 5-spoke alloy wheels. The braking system of the bike is comprises of 276mm disc brake at the front and 220mm disc brake at the rear that offers safety and confidence to the rider. Furthermore, it is configured with the suspension system that consists of telescopic forks at the front and spring loaded hydraulic type monoshock at the rear that offers optimum comfort and hassle-free ride.

The bike has an overall body measurement of 2000 mm in length, 825 mm in width, 1120 mm in height along with 1305 mm of wheelbase that offers comfortable riding posture. The minimum ground clearance of the bike is 190mm, which is high enough to pass the steepest speed breaker. The Kerb weight of the machine is 138kg  that makes it light hence improves the pick-up of the bike. It has a huge fuel tank that can store 13 liters at a time which is good enough for long distance ride.

Honda CBR 150R shares it engine with its previous version that is 149.4cc, Liquid cooled, 4-stroke, 4-Valve, DOHC, SI engine. The mill comes linked to a 6-speed transmission system and churns out a maximum power of 18.28 bhp at 10500 rpm and a net torque of 12.66Nm at 8500 rpm. Further, it is fitted with PGM-FI technology that improves the power delivery and throttle response. It has a compression ration of 11:1 and a power oriented bore x stroke ratio of 63.5 mm x 47.2 mm. With this setup, the bike can hit a top speed of 109kmph.

Honda CBR 150R is designed on diamond type chassis that offers a brilliant overall performance. It runs on a 100/80-17-inch front and 130/80-17-inch sticky wide tubeless tyres that offer good grip on the terrains. The bike comes to halt with the help of 276mm disc brake at the front and 220mm disc brake at the rear. Furthermore, it comes equipped with telescopic forks at the front and spring loaded hydraulic type monoshock at the rear that gives sound comfort to the rider as well as pillion.

Honda CBR 150R comes with a 12V 60/55W that offer steady light beam in the night well even in low light conditions. It is fitted with tubeless tyres that prevent any mishap in the case of a puncture. Furthermore, The machine comes with 130mm rear tyre that provides it high traction control so the rider can easily do cornering at high speeds confidently. The ground clearance of the motorcycle is good enough to surpass any hurdle of the road.
