Overview
The Yamaha NMax 155 is a premium maxi-scooter available in several foreign markets. Interestingly, it was showcased in India at the Auto Expo 2025. And now, Yamaha is finally launching the Nmax 155 here, reportedly by early 2027. As Yamaha already has a maxi-scooter on sale, the Aerox 155, the NMax 155 could be a slightly more premium offering, and might be priced around Rs 1.50 lakh (ex-showroom).
Design
Compared to the Aerox 155, the NMax 155 looks a bit bulkier, with more focus on premium quotient and practicality. It’s got a beefy apron with a large windshield, sleek footrest area with a spine running down the center, with a neatly integrated fuel filler cap. The tail section is high-set but the exhaust could’ve been a bit more compact for a more rounded rear section.
Features & Practicality
The NMax gets a TFT console with smartphone connectivity and navigation. Whether it’ll get the mild-hybrid assist is something that remains to be seen. If it does get it, then expect the torque to go slightly up. Other notable features include a stop-start tech, keyless ignition, USB charging port, ABS and traction control. At 25 litres, the underseat storage should be enough for daily commutes.
Engine and Performance
The scooter sold in Indonesia uses a 155cc, single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine paired with CVT gearbox, producing 15.4PS at 8,000rpm and 14.4Nm at 6,000rpm. On the other hand, the India-spec Aerox makes 15PS and 13.9PS. Expect the India-spec Nmax 155’s power and torque figures to be similar to the Aerox sold here.
Underpinnings
The Yamaha Nmax 155 gets 13-inch wheels at both ends. The scooter has a telescopic fork and preload-adjustable dual rear shocks. It has 230mm disc brakes at both ends.
Rivals To Consider
The scooter will compete against its own sibling, the Aerox 155, apart from the Hero Xoom 160. It will also rival the upcoming Honda ADV 160 and the 160cc TVS maxi scooter.
