Aprilia SXR 175

Aprilia is all set to launch the SXR 175 in India soon. Remember the SXR160 maxi-styled scooter? Well, the new Aprilia SXR 175 is going to be its successor, possibly with a slightly revised styling, and a more powerful 175cc engine. To that end, expect small design tweaks, but nothing overboard as such. 

As for the engine, it will be shared with the Aprilia SR175. That said, expect it to be tuned slightly differently to suit the maxi-style scooter character. For perspective, in the sporty scooter, the air-cooled engine makes 13PS and 14.14Nm. 

Expect the underpinnings to remain the same as the Aprilia SXR160, which means it may carry over the telescopic fork, single rear shock absorber, 12-inch wheels at both ends, and a front disc. We hope the rear also gets a disc, along with a dual-channel ABS. 

As for the features, the SXR175 will share the same TFT console as the Aprilia SR175 hp.e. It comes with smartphone connectivity and turn-by-turn navigation, and even mileage readouts. We also hope the underseat storage is large enough - in line with the maxi-scooter philosophy. 

Aprilia is likely to launch the SXR175 in India some time in September 2026. It could cost around Rs 1.45 lakh (ex-showroom). As for the rivals, it will go up against the Yamaha Aerox 155 and the Hero Xoom 160. Both have liquid-cooled engines, whereas the Aprilia will be the only 160cc maxi-style scooter with an air-cooled engine in India.
