Yamaha Aerox 155

The Yamaha Aerox 155 is one of the very few sporty scooters in the country. It uses the same engine from India's favourite sports bike the R15. The Aerox 155 not only looks sharp and aggressive but it is easily one of the fastest scooters in the category. But don’t those flashy looks fool you as the Aerox is equally practical as any other two-wheeler in the scooter market. 

• The Yamaha Aerox 155 looks nothing like the conventional scooter we have in India but resembles European maxi-scooters .

• It gets sharp and aggressive styling which makes it look quite appealing

• Even the colour options on offer are quite exciting and youth centric which enhances the overall stance of the scooter.

• In my opinion the Racing Blue paint scheme looks the best on the Aerox 155

• The apron mounted split headlights makes it look like bigger Yamaha motorcycles which looks quite good in my opinion.

• It also gets a neatly placed Yamaha logo on the neck area of the scooter above the front number plate holder.

• While the tail section is looks neat and suits the overall design of this sporty scooter.

• The Yamaha Aerox 155 gets an all LED headlight and tail light but misses out on LED indicators.

• It gets a LCD screen which shows all the necessary information and the layout is easy to read.

• It gets smartphone connectivity via Yamaha Y-connect application and supports SMS/calls alerts which is quite convenient to use.

• It also gets a fairly big 24.5-litre underseat storage which automatically makes it ticks all the right boxes in your scooter shopping list.

• However the side stand quality on the Aerox could have been slightly better.

• The Aerox gets a wide well cushioned seat which I found to be quite comfortable to sit on for both shot commutes or long rides.

• Like other scooters the Aerox does not get an empty footboard area as the scooter’s fuel filler cap is placed in the centre.

• However the suspension is kept quite stiff to support the sporty characteristic of this sporty scooter.

• This makes it slightly uncomfortable while riding on rough patches of road.

• The pillion comfort is pretty decent as well with good amount of space to move around comfortably and you will not find your pillion complaining during the commutes.

• So the Aerox 155 is pretty decent in the comfort area.

• It uses the same liquid-cooled engine as the R15 which has been heavily worked after to fit into a scooter setup.

• This is an extremely refined engine and the power delivery is quite good by scooter standards which makes it fun to ride.

• It gets up to high speeds easily without much effort and is capable of cruising at a constant 80-90kmph out on the highway.

• The low end performance could have been slightly better but the midrange is quite strong and makes overtaking out in the city very easy.

• With a kerb weight of 126kg, the Aerox is not the lightest scooter out there and its great handling ability should not be taken as a surprise as its a Yamaha afterall.

• The big 14-inch alloy wheels provide it with both highway stability and cornering grip.

• The braking performance could have been slightly better as the rear drum feels weak however the single channel ABS does work flawlessly.

• The stiff suspension body makes sure that it runs stable while highway cruising and cornering but is quite uncomfortable while riding in the city by some extent.

• The Yamaha Aerox 155 is one of the best looking scooters in Yamaha’s scooter portfolio in India which is makes it quite desirable.

• Being a 15bhp scooter it also not shy in terms of performance and will keep riders of all ages quite entertained.

• It is going to be a great choice for anyone who wants a fast, sporty scooter without losing out on the practicality a scooter offers.
