The new Himalayan 450 is the sole adventure motorcycle from Royal Enfield. It has replaced the previous-generation Himalayan 411 with an evolved design language, more modern features and an extensively revised engine and mechanical setup.
Price
The new Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 is being offered in five colour options – Kaza Brown, Slate Himalayan Salt, Slate Poppy Blue, Kamet White and Hanle Black. The Kaza Brown comes at Rs 2,85,000. The Slate Himalayan Salt and Slate Poppy Blue sells for Rs 2,89,000. The higher end Kamet White costs Rs 2,93,000 and the Hanle Black comes at Rs 2,98,000. All prices are ex-showroom Delhi.
Engine
Royal Enfield has developed the all-new Sherpa 450 engine for this new Himalayan - a single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, 452cc engine. This is Royal Enfield's first-ever liquid-cooled motor. Paired with a 6-speed gearbox, this new-generation engine of the Himalayan develops 40.02PS at 8000rpm and 40Nm at 5500rpm.
Suspension and Brakes
The Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 has completely new mechanicals compared to the previous-generation Himalayan 411. The Himalayan 450 boasts a new suspension setup, comprising a 43mm upside-down telescopic fork with 200mm travel at the front and a linked mono-shock with 200mm wheel travel at the rear. The motorcycle retains its 90/90-21 tube-type front tyre from the Himalayan 411, while at the rear, there is a new, wider 140/80 R17 tube-type radial tyre. Offered with a dual-channel ABS as standard equipment, the new Royal Enfield Himalayan 450's braking setup includes a 320mm front disc and a 270mm rear disc.
The Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 also gets a new 17-litre fuel tank and a ground clearance of 230mm. The seat height of the Himalayan 450 is 825mm, which is adjustable up to 845mm. Riders can also purchase a special low-height seat, which can bring the seat height down to as low as 805mm.
Key Features
The new Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 is adorned with a range of new features, some of which are firsts for a Royal Enfield bike. The new Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 gets all-LED illumination for the headlamp, tail lamp and turn indicators. The 4-inch TFT instrument console of the Himalayan 450 has two display modes for day and night riding. Apart from displaying the essential riding information on the go, the new instrument console also supports Bluetooth connectivity and Google Maps for navigation. Also offered in the new Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 are two riding modes (Performance and Eco), an assist-and-slipper clutch, new-generation switchgear and a USB charging socket.
