The updated Honda CB190SS has been launched in China. Wuyang-Honda, the Japanese bikemaker’s Chinese arm, has priced the neo-retro bike the same as before -- at CNY 16,980 (approximately Rs 1.98 lakh, excluding taxes). The motorcycle comes with a redesigned semi-digital console with an analogue tachometer. There’s LED lighting all around, but the rectangular indicators have been replaced with bullet-type units. The seats have been tweaked so that you can keep your feet planted on the ground. The fuel tank extensions have also been slightly redesigned for a fresher look.

The 184cc air-cooled single-cylinder motor’s ignition has been tuned for a punchier low- and mid-range performance. Consequently, the engine churns out 16.8PS at 8000rpm and 16Nm at 7000rpm, 0.9PS and 0.7Nm more than before. With a claimed mileage of 35.71kmpl and a 15.3-litre fuel tank, the motorcycle should offer a theoretical range of over 500km.

The bike employs an inverted front fork and a rear monoshock. It rolls on spoke wheels with new Zhengxin block-pattern tyres. Braking is via disc at both ends, with ABS as standard. If Honda manages to launch this motorcycle in India, it would be a perfect, more powerful alternative to the Yamaha FZ-X. Sadly though, the Japanese bike maker is unlikely to bring this neo-retro bike here.
