It is likely to be a naked bike based on the recently-launched Apache RR 310 BS6

TVS teamed up with BMW in 2013. It led to the creation of the Apache RR 310 in December 2017. Upcoming motorcycle could get the same engine but with relaxed ergonomics.

K.N. Radhakrishnan, TVS’ President and CEO, has confirmed at one of the company’s earnings conferences that a second TVS-BMW product is likely to be introduced in 2021. It could be a naked version of the recently-launched TVS Apache RR 310 BS6. Expect the brand to price the bike at Rs 2.10 lakh (ex-showroom), comfortably undercutting the faired bike (which costs Rs 2.40 lakh, ex-showroom pan-India).

Since naked Apaches get the “RTR” moniker, expect the upcoming bike to be called the Apache RTR 310. It could get the same engine as the RR310 - a 312.2cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled unit. While it could be offered in the same state of tune as the faired bike, we wouldn’t be surprised if TVS tweaked the motor to match the character of a streetfighter. The faired bike produces 34PS and 27.3Nm. Like the Apache RR 310, expect the naked iteration to feature the Rain, Sport and Track riding modes as well.

As far as the feature list is concerned, it is likely to get the same smartphone-compatible TFT screen as its faired sibling. However, instead of bi-LED projector headlamps, the brand could offer a simpler LED headlamp to save up costs. The bike could get raised clip-ons for more upright ergonomics.

Underpinnings like the inverted cartridge type front fork, rear monoshock, 300mm front petal disc with a radial caliper and a 240mm rear disc with dual-channel ABS are likely to be retained. When launched, it will go up against the BMW G 310 R, KTM 390 Duke BS6, Honda CB300R and Benelli TNT 300.
