Harley-Davidson Sportster 1200 Custom

Harley-Davidson is all set to launch Sportster 1200 Custom in India tomorrow. As per the information available with BikeDekho.com, the new motorcycle will be priced not very far from the existing 1200cc bike in the company's line-up, the H-D Forty-Eight. Sources indicated that the bike will come in with a price difference of Rs. 30,000 lower than the Forty-Eight. With the Forty-Eight costing Rs. 9.12 lac, we expect the 1200 Custom to be priced at around Rs. 8.8 lac, and will be assembled at the company's plant in Bawal, Haryana. This motorcycle is launching during the Great Desert Ride which has started today from Jodhpur, Rajasthan and will end on January 30.

The company is adding this bike to its Indian portfolio after recently discontinuing two of its models, SuperLow and FatBoy Special. According to sources, the new motorcycle has already reached dealerships across the country over the past 24 hours and will be officially unveiled with their prices, at an event in Delhi following a ride on Thursday. The American company also seems to be in a rush to launch the 1200 Custom owing to the growing market of its American competitor Indian Motorcycles here. The Indian Scout with a similar engine size is Indian's most popular model in the country.

Harley-Davidson 1200 Custom is the company's answer to riders who want the performance of the 1200cc Forty-Eight, but the touring ability and comfort of the Iron 883. Currently available for sale in the foreign market, Sportster 1200 Custom comes equipped with the same 1.2L, V-twin engine that is also present in Forty-Eight. The mill churns out 96Nm of peak torque at 3,750rpm and is mated to a 5-speed gearbox. It will feature a much larger 17-litre fuel tank compared to the Forty-Eight's 8-litre fuel capacity, which will enable it to go longer distances between fuel stops and making highway rides a reality.
