Hero has trademarked the Nightster 440 name in India, and this will be the second offering from the partnership between Hero and Harley, a smaller version of the bigger Nightster cruiser

Harley-Davidson has recently launched the X440 in India, developed in collaboration with Hero MotoCorp. It seems that partnership’s next motorcycle offering is not too far away in the future as Hero MotoCorp has trademark the name “Nightster 440” in India.

The filing suggests that both manufacturers are working on developing a cruiser based on the X440’s platform. The trademark status says “Accepted & Advertised”, which means that the trademark authority has accepted the filing and listed it in the trademark journal.

As the trademark is named ‘Nightster X440’, we expect that the upcoming motorcycle will be based on the X440’s platform and will get its 440cc, single-cylinder, air-oil-cooled engine, hopefully with a different set of tuning. The engine currently produces 27PS and 38Nm in the X440.

Styling-wise, the Nightster 440 is expected to get a sporty cruiser design language with a low-slung stance and forward-set footpeg setup like the bigger Nightster in H-D’s lineup.

The upcoming Nightster 440 is expected to be launched by end of  2024. Judging by the competitive pricing of the X440, we expect Harley-Davidson to price the motorcycle around Rs 2.9 lakh ex-showroom, which is about Rs 30,000 costlier than the top-spec S variant of the X440. Its rivals will be the Royal Enfield Meteor 350, Keeway V302C, and the upcoming Honda CB350 Cruiser.
