2026 Yamaha Cygnus XR 155 Special Edition Launched Internationally

Yamaha has launched its Cygnus XR 155 70th Anniversary Edition in Taiwan to celebrate its 70th anniversary. The Cygnus XR 155 special edition gets racing-inspired stickers and detailing, and it is just limited to 1,200 units worldwide. The sporty-looking scooter is priced at TWD 116,500 (approximately Rs 3.47 lakh). Here's everything you need to know about it.
Design
The Cygnus XR 155 is a sporty maxi-styled scooter, its exterior styling is inspired by Yamaha’s XMAX, and the special edition’s colour scheme is taken from the 1999 Yamaha YZF-R7.
It gets a special white and red colour scheme with an exclusive gold-coloured Yamaha logo below the headlight and a special 70th Anniversary Limited Edition sticker, making it stand apart from the standard model.
Engine
The Cygnus is powered by a 155cc liquid-cooled engine similar to the Yamaha Aerox 155. It produces 14.7PS and 13.73Nm (0.3PS & 0.17Nm less than the Aerox) paired with a CVT gearbox. If the engine is similar to what we’ve seen on the Aerox, it should offer a good mid-range and top-end performance.
Underpinnings
The Yamaha Cygnus XR rolls on 12-inch wheels and is wrapped with 110-section front and 130-section rear tyres. The scooter has a telescopic fork and preload-adjustable dual shocks. The braking duties are handled by a 267mm front disc and a 230mm rear disc. While it is a maxi-styled scooter, not a proper maxi-scooter like its Indian sibling, it does get a larger fuel tank capacity at 6.5 litres (1 litre more than the Aerox). .
Features
The scooter gets modern convenience features such as a smart key and a silent starter motor. It gets a colour LCD console with Bluetooth connectivity via a dedicated app. Other convenience features include a USB Type-C charging port to charge your phone on the go. Additionally, it gets a twin-LED projector setup on which one can change the colour of the light (white & yellow), along with 28 litres of storage space under the seat which can hold a full-face helmet. Safety features include dual-channel ABS and traction control.

The Yamaha Cygnus XR 155 70th Anniversary Edition is a stunning-looking scooter with loads of features and good levels of performance. While there are no plans for Yamaha to bring it to India, Yamaha recently patented the NMAX 155 in India, hinting at the brand's interest in expanding its premium scooter line-up. If it ever does, the scooter will need to be heavily localised for it to be priced competitively. Until then, we have to stick with the other 155cc scooter from the brand – the Yamaha Aerox 155. All said and done, we do hope Yamaha introduces the features from the Cygnus, such as the colour-changing projector headlight, to the Aerox, which has been long overdue for an update.
