Harley-Davidson has expanded its affordable motorcycle lineup in India with the launch of the X440 T. While it is based on the existing X440 platform, the new model adds design improvements and a more modern feature set. Here's how the two compare:
Design & Styling
The standard Harley-Davidson X440’s styling drew mixed opinions, especially the rear section. The X440 T fixes that with a new sleeker tail section, with an integrated tail-light, giving it a sportier stance, thanks to a new subframe. The front also gets bar-end mirrors instead of handlebar-mounted ones, helping the bike look wider and sharper.
The Harley-Davidson X440 T is offered in four new colour options with updated graphics on the tank and side panels. In comparison, the standard X440 comes in three variants with a different set of colour schemes, ranging from matt-finish options to metallic shades. Also, the X440 T has stickers on the fuel tank, while the X440 has 3D logos.
Features & Technology
The X440 T gets ride-by-wire throttle, which not only cleans up the cable clutter. The T also has switchable rear ABS, switchable traction control and 2 riding modes (Rain and Road). In the Rain mode, the engine delivers max power and torque, and two rider aids can be turned off. However, in the Rain mode, the torque is reduced by about 10 percent, and the aids cannot be switched on. Another new feature is the panic braking alert, which flashes all the indicators when braking hard. The standard X440 uses a cable-operated throttle and misses out on any rider electronic aids.
Other features such as the TFT console with smartphone connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation, and phone alerts; USB type-A charging port continue unchanged. And, just like the top-spec X440 S, the T also gets connected features such as vehicle tracking, geo-fencing and remote immobilisation.
Engine & Performance
Under the skin, both Harley-Davidson bikes are identical. They are powered by the same 440cc air-oil cooled single-cylinder engine, with power and torque figures at 27.4PS and 38Nm – remain unchanged. Even the chassis, suspension, wheels, tyres, and braking setup are the same, which should result in the same riding experience.
Pricing & Variants
At Rs 2,79,500 (ex-showroom), the X440 T is Rs 24,600 more expensive than the top-end X440 S variant. The standard X440 range currently starts at Rs 2,34,500 (all prices ex-showroom).

Verdict
The X440 T improves on the areas where riders wanted changes: styling and fit-finish levels, as well as improves the safety quotient. For buyers who liked the engine and ride quality of the X440 but found the design a bit unfinished, the ‘T’ now offers a more polished package. Those on a tighter budget or riders who prefer a classic retro look may still find the regular X440 a strong and value-friendly option.
