TVS’s Apache range and Unicorn sales see a massive growth, while sales of the Pulsar range drop

From commuters, streetfighters, off-roaders, sportbikes and cruisers, the 150-200cc bike segment has it all. The Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers’ (SIAM) two-wheeler sales report for July was released recently and here are the top five models sold in this segment:

The TVS Apache RTR range consisting of the Apache RTR 160 2V, Apache RTR 160 4V, Apache RTR 180 and the Apache RTR 200 4V has retained its position at the top of the list this month. However, compared to last month, the sales have again picked up by showing a growth of 44.7 percent. We did report that the Hosur-based manufacturer looks to be balancing production of all its models, presumably due to the supply chain disruptions, and this trend seems to be continuing.

There’s a new surprise entrant in the second spot, as the Honda Unicorn registers a massive growth by selling 11,203 units when compared to the measly 79 units sold in June 2022. The production of the Unicorn was cut down in June, with only 1,537 units manufactured, and 1,880 units were exported, however, as the production ramped up in July, Honda catered to the domestic market, thus racking in this huge sales number.

The combined sales of the Bajaj Pulsar NS160, N160, RS200 and the NS200 have dropped significantly by 32.7 percent, as the production of the Pulsar range dropped in July, while export numbers remained the same as June. Expect Bajaj to focus on domestic deliveries in August, and the Pulsar range to thus register a healthy growth.

Yamaha continues to impress, grabbing continuing its run in the top five by retailing 17,739 units of the MT-15 Version 2.0 and the R15 range, which consists of the R15 V4, R15M and R15S V3, a good growth over June. With the Japanese marque recently launching the MotoGP editions of both these units, expect them to rake in good numbers in August too.
