KTM Becomes the Largest Selling Premium Bike Brand in India

Austrian bike maker KTM has established a new record in the emerging premium bike segment of the country. Their maiden offering in India -- KTM Duke 200, which was launched in January 2012 has clocked sales of 8500 units in calendar year 2012, making KTM the largest selling premium motorcycle brand in the country. The KTM product range is all set to expand with launch of 2 exciting new street bikes. First will be KTM Duke 390, it will be a 375cc, single cylinder, 45 bhp naked streetfighter racing bike, which will be launched in mid-2013. The second will be a RC8 and Moto 3 racing bike inspired, small displacement supersports bike to be launched in early 2014.

KTM is also importing some RC8 1190 cc flagship supersports racing bikes from Austria, which will be available in showrooms for display in March 2013. With 70 operational dealerships across India, KTM has by far the largest dealer network among all premium motorcycle brands. KTM oragnizes unique motorsports initiatives like Orange Days and Orange rides the KTM tribe keeps swelling.

Commenting on KTM’s achievements on its 1st launch anniversary Mr. Amit Nandi, Vice President (Probiking) Bajaj Auto, said “When someone wants a normal street bike he has a lot of options in the market but when he wants to buy a thorough-bred racing machine he knows that KTM is the only one. The number of motorcycle racing enthusiasts in India is much larger than what most people think.”
