[UPDATE: 2020 Triumph Street Triple R Launched In India, head here to check it out.]

The Street Triple R sits between the S and RS in Triumph’s international lineup

The Street Triple R variant will be sold for the first time in India.  Its 765cc BS6 compliant motor delivers 118PS and 77Nm.  Gets fully-adjustable Showa suspension, bi-directional quickshifter.

Triumph will be launching the 2020 Street Triple R in India tomorrow. It will be the first time the R variant will be sold here as Triumph previously sold only the entry level Street Triple S and Street Triple RS in India. The upcoming streetfighter sits between the two. It makes more power and torque than the S variant and gets better kit as well. The new Street Triple R is expected to be priced around Rs 9.50 lakh. In comparison, the range-topping Street Triple RS costs Rs 11.33 lakh (ex-showroom).

Styling-wise, the Street Triple R gets new bodywork and looks similar to the new RS variant. It even gets the new LED headlamps. It, however, misses out on the top variant’s colour TFT digital instrument console and still uses the earlier generation’s semi-digital instrument console.

Power comes from a Euro 5/BS6-compliant 765cc in-line three-cylinder motor that delivers 118PS and 77Nm. It gets a slipper clutch and a bi-directional quickshifter. Electronic rider aids include 3 riding modes (Road, Rain and Sport), traction control and ABS.

The new Street Triple R impresses in the underpinnings department. It gets fully adjustable Showa suspension in the form of 41mm upside down separate function big piston forks and a piggyback reservoir monoshock. It gets Diablo Rosso III tyres and Brembo braking consisting of front M4.32 four-piston radial monobloc calipers and a single piston rear caliper.

The new Triumph Street Triple R will compete with other streetfighters like the BMW F 900 RKawasaki Z900 and the KTM 790 Duke, the last two of which are yet to be released in BS6 trim.
