Kawasaki Ninja ZX-4R Design
The Kawasaki Ninja ZX-4R has the unmistakable silhouette of a Ninja supersport. It looks compact yet aggressive, with sharp body lines resembling those of the bigger Ninja ZX-6R. The dual-LED headlights at the front give it a very aggressive fascia while the side profile is of a proper supersport. From the back, it will remind you of the ZX-10R as they have a similar-looking taillight. The proportions give it the appearance of a bigger bike, and it carries the legacy of the ZX family forward with its design.
Kawasaki Ninja ZX-4R Engine
Powering the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-4R is a 399cc inline-four-cylinder engine, producing 77PS and 39Nm. With a RAM air intake, the power goes up to 80PS. It comes with a 6-speed gearbox and a slip-and-assist clutch. This engine configuration is extremely rare in this segment and gives the bike a proper supersport character.
Kawasaki Ninja ZX-4R Features
The Kawasaki Ninja ZX-4R is packed with modern tech, including all-LED lighting and a 4.3-inch TFT instrument console that supports smartphone connectivity via Kawasaki’s Rideology app. It gets two screen modes – Normal and Circuit, which change the layout and the information available on the screen. There are four riding modes: Sport, Road, Rain, and Rider (customisable), which allow the rider to tailor the bike’s performance to different riding conditions.
Kawasaki Ninja ZX-4R Chassis, Brakes, Wheels, Suspension
The ZX-4R uses an inverted telescopic fork and a preload-adjustable monoshock. Braking is handled by dual 290mm discs at the front and a 220mm disc at the rear. It rides on 17-inch alloy wheels with 120-section front and 160-section rear tyres. The seat height is 800mm, and with a kerb weight of 189kg, the ZX-4R has a sporty yet approachable ergonomics for experienced as well as new riders. Ground clearance stands at 135mm, and fuel tank capacity is 15 litres.

The Kawasaki Ninja ZX-4R currently has no direct rivals in the Indian market, as it’s the only 400cc inline-four faired bike on sale. However, those considering it may also look at higher-displacement alternatives like the Triumph Daytona 660 or the Suzuki GSX-8R.
