Overview
The Triumph Street Triple 765 is the brand's performance-oriented middleweight streetfighter that's aimed at outright performance. In India, it is available in three variants: R, RS and RX, with the Street Triple 765 RX being the latest model that's been launched.
Design
The bug-eye headlights have been a signature piece of design of Triumph’s triple-cylinder nakeds (Street Triple as well as Speed Triple). But instead of the classic round ones that were there in the older Street Triples, the new-gen version comes with properly modern, sharp-looking LED units. This lends it a Bumblebee-esque look, a refreshment from the old bug eyes. The body panels are minimal but they all have sharp, angular elements. The meaty fuel tank is complemented by small tank extensions, along with the beefy aluminium twin-spar frame running down the sides. The rear is dominated by the fat 180-section tyre, a stubby tail section with a tiny pillion seat, and a stubby exhaust that further diverts the focus back to the fat rear tyre.
Features
The Triumph Street Triple R gets a LCD-TFT combo console, whereas the RS and RX get a 5-inch TFT console. As expected from a premium, performance streetfighter, Triumph has loaded the Street Triple with all the electronic goodies including cornering ABS and traction control, multiple riding modes, wheelie control, among others. The RS and RX variants also get optional smartphone connectivity.
Riding Posture & Comfort
The Street Triple 765 has a good degree of usability thanks to its streetfighter design. The wide handlebar provides easy leverage to flick the bike easily. That said, the riding posture is still fairly aggressive, complete with split seat setup, and rear-set footpegs. The RX variant is strictly a single-seater, with a pillion cowl, and an even more aggressive clip-on handlebars. The overall riding posture is meant for spirited riding, so do not expect it to be forgiving enough for long, daily commutes.
Engine, Mileage & Performance
The Street Triple R, RS and RX models are powered by the same 765cc inline three-cylinder motor. Triumph has been using this engine in Moto2 (world championship motorcycle racing), with the learnings from motorsport making their way onto the engine. If you opt for the R variant, the max power is rated at 120PS at 11,500rpm, and you get peak torque of 80Nm at 9500rpm. The racier RS and RX variants make 130PS at 12,000rpm, while the torque remains the same as the R version. All of them get a 6-speed transmission with slip and assist clutch as well as bi-directional quickshifter.
Handling & Ride Quality
Triumph has put its Moto2 learnings to good use, providing a very premium underpinnings package. The R and RS get Show Separate Function Fork - Big Biston (SFF-BP) adjustable for compression, rebound damping, and preload. At the rear, the R gets a compression, rebound and preload-adjustable Showa monoshock, whereas the RS gets a more premium Öhlins STX40 monoshock with the same level of adjustability. The range-topping, limited edition RX packs sporty Öhlins NIX30 at the front and Öhlins STX40 at the rear, both fully adjustable.
All the three variants get a twin 310mm front and a 220mm rear disc, but the R variant gets a Brembo M4.32 front caliper, whereas the RS and RX get even more powerful Brembo Stylema monobloc calipers.
Rivals To Consider
The Triumph Street Triple 765 range goes up against the Kawasaki Z900, KTM 890 Duke R, Honda CB750 Hornet, and the Ducati Monster 900. It will also rival the upcoming 2026 Ducati Monster 900.
