Sharing design cues with the next-gen 390 Duke, the 2017 KTM 200 Duke also gets a minor performance boost, and now churns out 26PS of power

KTM officially revealed the 2017 Duke range, including the updated 125 Duke, 390 Duke, 1290 Super Duke R and the 790 Duke prototype, at the 2016 EICMA show in Milan, Italy. But, there is another motorcycle which was also expected to arrive at the event -- a very important model for the Indian market, and that is none other than the updated KTM 200 Duke. While the Austrian bikemaker skipped this India-bound motorcycle at the Milan Motorcycle show, a few details of it are now available along with some official pictures.

Like the existing Duke twins, the 2017 KTM 200 Duke also shares its design and styling with the new 390 Duke. However, they are not exactly identical as the 200cc model misses out on the LED split headlamp unit and the new TFT screen instrument cluster. While the shape and positioning of the headlamp are same and the LED daytime running lamp is also there, the younger sibling continues with a conventional halogen bulb for the main headlight.

Along with a new sub-frame added to the steel trellis frame, the 2017 KTM 200 Duke gets a new paint scheme, having an interesting trio of orange, black and white. Moreover, the fuel tank of the bike is slightly bigger and the key hole has also been shifted to the top-end of the tank. Along with a new side-slung exhaust and Euro 4 compatibility, the updated version of the 199.5cc, liquid-cooled, 4-valve engine is also reported to deliver slightly better performance. The reports suggest that the improved motor delivers 26PS of power while the torque delivery remains unchanged. The new motor is also said to be more fuel efficient compared to the existing model that returns around 35kmpl.

Along with all these updates, there could be more surprises in store for the Duke fans, which will be uncovered with the official unveiling of the 2017 KTM 200 Duke. With a slightly higher price tag as compared to the existing model, the new model is expected to be launched in India by mid-2017, following the launch of the new 390 Duke.
