The BS6 Jupiter features fuel-injection and a full-LED headlight

  • The BS6 Jupiter commands a premium of up to Rs 7,921 over its BS4 counterparts.
  • TVS no longer offers a front disc as an option on any of the variants.
  • The updated Jupiter makes slightly less power than before.

TVS Motors has updated its entire Jupiter lineup to comply with BS6 emission norms a little over two months after it launched the BS6 Jupiter Classic. The addition of fuel injection and an LED headlight, which now come as standard across all variants, attracts a premium of up to Rs 7,921 over its BS4 counterparts. Interestingly, the brand has done away with both the Jupiter Grande and Jupiter ZX disc variants for 2020, presumably due to low demand. However, there’s no official statement from the manufacturer. Check out the new price list in the table below:

Interestingly, Jupiter’s base variant, priced at Rs 61,449 (ex-showroom Delhi), undercuts the standard Honda Activa 6G by Rs 2,463. However, the Jupiter BS6 lineup doesn't get you much in terms of features.

While TVS hasn’t disclosed the scooter’s engine specs, we have managed to get our hands on its BS6 certification doc, which gives us a glimpse of its power output. The BS6 Jupiter uses the same 109.7cc engine but puts out 7.47PS at 7000rpm instead of 7.99PS at 7500rpm in the BS4 model. Its torque output though is expected to remain unchanged at 8Nm.

TVS hasn’t tinkered with Jupiter’s underpinnings either. It uses the same telescopic fork and a single rear shock. In terms of braking, the scooter uses drum brakes at both ends and does away with the disc option upfront.

TVS has already updated the Apache RR 310, Apache RTR 160 4V and RTR 200 4V, RTR 160 2V, and Star City Plus to comply with BS6 emissions.
