More Affordable Royal Enfield Himalayan Confirmed

The scrambler-esque test mule has been recently spotted testing

Is expected to undercut the Himalayan in terms of pricing. The new bike could use the recently trademarked Scram name.  Unlike the ADV, the new model will roll on a smaller wheel setup. 

Royal Enfield’s upcoming Himalayan-based model was recently spotted testing. Now, a clear visual has surfaced of what appears to be the clay model. Considering that the bike maker trademarked the name Scram a couple of months ago, we expect the new model to be the fit for it. So, here are all the key details you should know about the upcoming Royal Enfield motorcycle.

While the new bike does have the Himalayan DNA, it gets a few tweaks to the overall structure. The headlight mount has been revised and the instrument cluster appears to be a single-pod unit with Tripper navigation similar to the Meteor 350. Unlike the Himalayan, the Royal Enfield Scram 411 will not have a fixed headlight but it wouldn't be an LED unit either.

The engine, suspension setup and braking hardware are likely to be carried over. However, we wouldn't mind extra grunt from the 411cc single-cylinder unit. 

The fuel tank braces have been replaced by shrouds. Unlike the ADV’s split seat, it gets a single piece unit which appears to be a tad bit more comfortable. The rear fender and the taillight setup seems unaltered although the bike gets a new grab rail and the top box mount has been eliminated. The bash-plate could be offered as an accessory.  

The Royal Enfield Scram appears to roll on a 19-inch front and a 17-inch rear unit. In the clay model, the bike is seen equipped with off-road spec tyres similar to the current Himalayan. However, expect Royal Enfield to offer road-biased tyres and even alloy wheels during the official launch or as an accessory, later on.  While the Royal Enfield Scram 411 isn't a thoroughbred Scrambler, it's a more urban version of the Himalayan.

We expect the new bike to undercut the RE Himalayan by around Rs 10-12,000, which currently is priced at Rs 2.05 lakh onwards (ex-showroom, Delhi).
