Does the ADV get cruise control?

Royal Enfield has been tempting us with its multiple test mules on the road, especially with the Himalayan 450 and these are the clearest visuals of the bike yet. Here’s all you need to know.

This is the clearest visual of the instrument console – a new circular single-piece TFT console instead of the analogue unit found on the  Himalayan 411. It will most likely get bluetooth connectivity and turn-by-turn navigation.

Interestingly, the ADV gets a slightly revised switchgear which looks more practical and intuitive than the one found on other RE bikes. And oh! It also gets a button under the starter dial, which seems to be for cruise control. A fine feature, and a first for any Royal Enfield bike.

Another first for the veteran bikemaker is the new 450cc liquid-cooled engine and it looks pretty premium. It features concave radiator cover, with fins curved inwards, which should ideally improve the thermal performance by directing the airflow inwards quite efficiently.

Instead of a curved radiator, Royal Enfield has chosen to use a curved radiator cover, as curved radiators are expensive to manufacture and maintain.

Summing up, the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 is expected to launch in the coming months with a price tag of Rs 2.80 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). It goes up against the likes of the KTM 390 Adventure, and the upcoming Hero XPusle 400.
