Honda CBR650R

The Honda CBR650R is the sporty successor to the old CBR650F middleweight sports tourer. Additionally, it’s the one of only two middleweight offerings currently on sale in India with an inline 4-cylinder engine, the other being its naked sibling, the CB650R, which shares the same engine.

Honda CBR650R Price:

The Honda CBR650R is priced at Rs 8,89,363 (ex-showroom Delhi). It’s available in two colours: red and black.

Honda CBR650R Features:

It comes with a switchable HSTC (Honda Selectable Torque Control, Honda’s speak for traction control), a 6-speed gearbox with a slipper clutch, and all-LED lighting. These aside, the CBR650R gets a full digital display with two trip meters and information such as fuel gauge and average fuel consumption. It also has a clock, and gear position and shift indicator. 

Also on offer is Honda’s ESS (Emergency Stop Signal) technology, which automatically activates the hazard lights in case of sudden braking, and an Ignition Security System (HISS) -- Honda’s lingo for an anti-theft system. That said, it doesn’t get smartphone connectivity yet.

Honda CBR650R Engine:

The CBR650R uses a 648.72cc liquid-cooled inline-four mill making 87PS at 12,000rpm and 57.5Nm at 8500rpm. The engine works alongside a 6-speed gearbox with a slip-and-assist clutch.

Honda CBR650R Suspension & Brakes:

Suspension up front comprises a 41mm Showa Separate Function Big Piston USD fork while the rear gets a pro-link monoshock. Its braking setup consists of twin discs paired with Nissin radial-mounted calipers up front and a single disc brake at the rear.

Honda CBR650R Rivals:

Considering its segment, the CBR650R competes against the Aprilia RS 660 and the Kawasaki Ninja 650. But considering its price, it’s more closely matched by the Triumph Trident 660, Triumph Street Triple R, and the Kawasaki Z900.
