The 200cc and 160cc Pulsar bikes both get a new headlight and a feature-packed instrument cluster

Bajaj has unveiled the 2024 Pulsar NS200 and Pulsar NS160 now we have a clearer picture of what the 2024 update has brought to the table. The unveiling comes after many teasers being dropped by Bajaj on their social media, which gave us a glimpse of what to expect.

The new update has brought a redesigned headlight section which now gives both the bikes LED headlight along with DRLs. The two bikes also get a new fully-digital instrument console with smartphone connectivity.

The left side switch gear has also been reworked and the bikes now come with a new button with which the rider can navigate through the functionalities of the instrument console, a similar setup to what we saw on the 2024 Pulsar N160 and N150

What really stands out about the new headlight section console is that the bikes are now more aggressive than before, with the LED DRLs resembling fangs.

Coming to the instrument console, the new console is a negatively lit LCD unit which gives readouts like speed, fuel level, time, odometer, tripmeters, tachometer and a gear position indicator. The console also gives useful information such as expected time of arrival (ETA), real-time and average mileage, and distance to empty (DTE).

The smartphone connectivity via Bluetooth brings functionalities such as Call & SMS alerts, phone battery and signal levels, and more importantly, turn-by-turn navigation, which is missing in the just launched Bajaj Pulsar N150 and Bajaj Pulsar N160. Apart from the design and feature updates, the two bikes do not have any changes to the performance. The Pulsar NS160 is still powered by the same 160.3cc air-/oil-cooled single-cylinder engine that produces 17.2PS and 14.6Nm, and the Pulsar NS200 is still powered by the same 199.5cc liquid-cooled engine, generating 24.5PS and 18.74Nm.

With this update Bajaj has brought in just about the right set of (and much sought-after) ingredients to make the two Pulsar bikes more relevant in the modern world. The 160cc Pulsar goes up against the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V, Hero Xtreme 160R 4V, Yamaha FZ-S Fi V4, Suzuki Gixxer whereas the 200cc Bajaj bike will rival the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V and the Honda Hornet 2.0. Bajaj is likely to reveal the prices soon, and we expect both bikes to come at a small premium of Rs 3,000 to Rs 4,000. For perspective, the Bajaj Pulsar NS200 costs Rs 1,49,363, whereas the Bajaj Pulsar NS160 costs Rs 1,36,736 now. Both prices ex-showroom Delhi.
