Kawasaki to launch Versys 650 in India on 24th December

Japanese manufacturer Kawasaki is all set to launch its Versys 650 on 24th December. Right now the company already has a higher variant Versys 1000 in the market. The idea of launching this lower displacement model is to target a younger consumer group and increase the reach and more customer base in the country.

In terms of design, the new Kawasaki Versys 650 share the visual appearance as its older mate, Versys 1000. Dual headlamps, adjustable front windscreen, LED tail lamps and a larger fuel tank can be seen in the upcoming 650. The company has kept all the aspects in mind while manufacturing this machine, as the bike will be offered with an adjustable handlebar and wider seats for comfortable journeys on long routes. 650 will also have a ground clearance of 170 mm, which is more than expected as it will help the machine to get through rough adventurous track easily. Kawasaki Versys 650 will be equipped with upside down forks at front and mono shock with remote adjustable spring at the rear.

Technical Specs

Kawasaki Versys 650 will be equipped with a 649cc, four strokes, liquid-cooled, DOHC engine that delivers a maximum power of 68.05 bhp and a peak torque of 63.7Nm. Also, the bike will have a six-speed transmission along with 300mm petal-style rotors with two-piston calipers at the front and a single 250mm petal-style rotor with a single-piston caliper at the rear.  

The Kawasaki Versys 650 will be priced higher than the Ninja 650 by Rs 50,000-75,000.

The current variant of the Versys series in Indian market is Versys 1000. The bike is featured with:

  •  Engine: 1043cc Four-Stroke, Liquid-Cooled, DOHC, Four Valves Per Cylinder, Inline-four
  •  Max. Power: 118.4 bhp @ 9000 rpm
  •  Max. Torque: 102 Nm @ 7500 rpm
  •  Price: Rs. 13,28,000* (ex-showroom, Delhi)
