About Hero Xtreme 200R 2018-2022
Hero has announced that it will be donating 60 Hero Xtreme 200R modified into bike ambulances in a bid to fight the coronavirus. The modified bike ambulance comes with a sidecar with a bed that’s big enough to accommodate an adult. This should help in reaching remote places that cannot usually be accessed by full-sized ambulances. There are a number of other changes made to the motorcycle to suit its purpose too, and you can read all about it here.
The Xtreme 200 R sports a conservative yet slightly sporty design with a sharp-looking headlamp, a sculpted fuel tank and aerodynamic shrouds around the engine. Its headlamp is a halogen unit whereas the tail lamp is an LED unit. While it doesn’t have an extensive list of features, the Xtreme 200R does get a semi-digital instrument cluster with an analogue tachometer.
In addition to this, it gets split grab rails, a rear tyre hugger, front and rear disc brakes, ABS, engine cowl and 17-inch alloy wheels. Powering the Xtreme 200R is a single-cylinder, air-cooled 199.6cc engine that generates a max power figure of 18.4PS and a peak torque of 17.1Nm, mated to a 5-speed transmission. Hero claims a fuel efficiency figure of 39.9kmpl and a top speed of 112kmph. The Xtreme 200R rivals the Bajaj Pulsar 220F and the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V.

Xtreme 200R 2018-2022 Expert Review
Making its entry again into the performance segment, Hero looks positive to turn the tables in its favor with the Xtreme 200R. Built on a Diamond chassis, it borrows aggressive styling cues from its sibling, the Xtreme Sports. The Hero Xtreme 200R is an attempt in the performance two-wheeler segment after the previous
Hero Karizma failed to impress.
On the style front, the new 200cc Hero bike looks attractive. The naked look is an all-time favorite of riding enthusiasts and the Xtreme 200R justifies it completely. Some interesting and fascinating bits of the bike include an engine cowl, chunky tailpiece, crystal clear headlamp, dual-tone seat upholstery, semi-digital instrument cluster and swirl star designed alloy wheels.
The braking set up consists of disc brakes at both, the front as well as the rear, which provide great confidence to the rider. There is a high possibility of the bike being offered with ABS (Anti-lock braking system) at least as an option. The bike gets conventional front forks and a mono suspension at the rear. The starting price tag that this bike would sport is INR 90,000 (Ex-showroom, Delhi)
Design
One word that describes the Xtreme 200R's overall appeal is ‘Muscular’. With aggressive styling and capable design elements to attract buyers, the Xtreme 200R features a sharp edgy headlamp and a chunky tail section, of which both come with LED units. The sculpted fuel tank, engine shrouds, two-tone seat upholstery, body-coloured rear mudguard, rear split grab rails, front alloy wheel painted in red while the rear in black, 17-inch swirl-shaped alloys and semi-digital instrument console- all collectively give the bike a very upmarket feel making it a desirable two-wheel motor. However, while it looks bigger than its sibling, the Xtreme Sports, it isn't as big as its rivals - the Bajaj Pulsar NS 200, TVS Apache RTR 200 4V and the Yamaha Fazer 25.
The extended fuel tank comes with faux air vents that are pleasing to eyes. The instrument cluster has a digital display for speed and a big analogue tachometer which gets a supreme placement on the left side. The cuts and edges make it for an overall aggressive appeal. The finish level seems to be okay and satisfactory. finish level seems to be okay and satisfactory.
Engine, Mileage & Performance
Under the flesh, the Xtreme 200R houses a single cylinder air-cooled, 199.6cc engine that churns out a max power output of 18.4PS at 8,000rpm and a peak torque of 17.1Nm at 6,500rpm, mated to a 5-speed transmission system.
Handling & Ride Quality
Built on a diamond-type frame, the Xtreme 200R rides on conventional 37mm telescopic front forks and Mono shock absorber at the rear, which is adjustable for preload. The suspension assembly is capable to provide the rider with the confidence of taking it around the corners and also along the straight paths. Avoiding bumps and getting through terrain undulations won’t be an issue for this Hero ride. On the braking front, the Xtreme gets discs (front - 276mm rear - 220mm) at both ends, with a single-channel ABS unit. There are 17-inch alloy wheels that are wrapped with tubeless radial tyres, which are good as far as safety and stability of the bike are concerned.
Features
The Xtreme 200R gets an optional single channel ABS that’ll contribute to the rider as well as pillion safety. Braking setup includes a front and rear disc brake. The discs would help the rider with adequate braking force and stopping power that is required to be on top of the safety game.
