Pulsar F250 Expert Review

Bajaj Pulsar F250 Front View

The Bajaj Pulsar F250 is a new semi-faired offering in the pulsar lineup by the Indian manufacturer. It won’t be wrong to call it an evolutionary upgrade of the Bajaj Pulsar 220F, the Pulsar F250 features a sporty bodywork with modern elements. It comes equipped with dual-channel ABS.

Design

Bajaj Pulsar F250 Design

The Pulsar F250 comes with a half-fairing with modern styling elements that makes it stand out from the rest of the Pulsars. Interestingly, though the fuel tank and the fairing are two different elements, their design flows really well. The boomerang-shaped LED enhances the bike’s sporty look, and the wide mirrors are quite functional. Bajaj has done a good job in designing the muscular tail section, and it goes well with the split seats. That said, the stubby exhaust sticks out like a sore thumb.

Engine, Mileage & Performance

Bajaj Pulsar F250 Engine

The Bajaj Pulsar F250 is equipped with an air-/oil-cooled 249.07 cc single-cylinder engine that produces 24.5 PS and 21.5 Nm, paired with a 5-speed gearbox with a slip-and-assist clutch. The claimed mileage of the Bajaj Pulsar F250 is 39 kmpl. Despite having a less sophisticated engine, the Pulsar F250 is pretty close to the Pulsar NS200 in terms of power, and also gets the highest torque on a Pulsar bike in India. The acceleration is strong, and this coupled with the healthy torque ensures the bike offers great mid-range performance. The bike hit a top-speed of 135 kmph on the Bajaj test track, which is pretty impressive for a 250cc bike.

In the city, the Pulsar F250 can easily move in third or fourth gear without any stress. The clutch is light, and is effortless to use in traffic-heavy roads. Even though it has only 5 gears, you won’t really miss the sixth on the highways. Also, the gear shifting is smooth but shifting to third can be a bit notchy at times. More importantly, the refinement is great for a Bajaj bike with only a mild buzz on the handlebars, footpegs, and seat, that too at higher speeds.

Handling & Ride Quality

Bajaj Pulsar F250 Handling

The Bajaj Pulsar F250 is easy to steer but it would’ve been even more agile if the kerb weight was a bit lower. The ride quality is excellent, in fact the best among the Pulsars, soaking up all the bumps with ease. The brakes are also good and they offer decent bite and lever feedback. The addition of the dual-channel ABS adds to the safety as well.

Comfort

The Bajaj Pulsar F250 provides a sporty yet comfortable riding posture to the rider thanks to its raised clip-on handlebar and mildly set footpegs. In fact, the riding posture is very similar to the Pulsar 220F, except for the fact that this offers better space around the fuel tank, and a roomier seat. The slightly tall windscreen also offers decent wind protection on the highways too.

Features

Bajaj Pulsar F250 Instrument console

The Bajaj Pulsar F250 comes with all-LED lighting with a projector headlight. The semi-digital instrument cluster is easy to read, and looks neat too. However, Bajaj has not offered smartphone connectivity or turn-by-turn navigation, something even 125cc scooters have. The illuminated switchgear ensures it’s easy to use at night. Also, it is the first Pulsar to get a gear position indicator, and real-time mileage and range indicator.

Should you buy Bajaj Pulsar F250

If you are looking to buy a sporty motorcycle but at the same time should be versatile, the Bajaj Pulsar F250 is worth considering. It handles daily commutes nicely and can be a fun motorcycle to ride around on your weekends as well. But if you are not into half-faired motorcycles, you can also check out its naked sibling, the Pulsar N250.
