Revolt RV400 BRZ

The Revolt RV400 BRZ is a new variant of the Revolt RV400 and is designed to be a less intimidating e-bike that is aimed at riders who are just starting out their journey with electric motorcycles. It looks identical to the RV400 but doesn’t come with the same set of features. Here’s how it feels in the real world. 

The Revolt RV400 BRZ looks identical to the RV400 and from afar it is hard to catch what’s different between the two. This doesn’t come as a surprise as Revolt intended the BRZ to be a variant of the RV400. The fit and finish levels are up to mark, similar to the RV400 and you don’t get the feeling that you are missing out when picking the BRZ over the RV400.

The BRZ being a simplified RV400 misses out on a bit of features, such as keyless ignition and smartphone connectivity. So riders won’t be able to access certain readouts and ridestats which are available via the Revolt App. Stats such as battery status, remaining range and nearest swap station.

But this isn’t a major issue as the BRZ is meant to be a less intimidating electric bike and something that is more suited to people who are just starting out on their EV journey.

Like the RV400, the BRZ appears tall and with the 814mm seat height it might seem like the bike isn’t easy to handle for shorter riders. But the narrow profile and the low kerb weight of 108kg makes it easy to get both feet down and manoeuvre the bike around. The seat cushioning is adequate and is able to give a comfortable riding experience.

The BRZ gets the same 3kW electric motor and puts out the same performance as the RV400. The setup is able to produce around 54Nm at the motor and offers brisk acceleration initially, but like the RV400 it starts to go down after 65kmph. 

There are 3 modes on offer: Sport, Normal and Eco. The throttle response on the sport mode is a bit sharp and the BRZ being an electric motorcycle puts it all on your face instantly. Eco mode is a bit easier but still, we wish Revolt had put more work into improving the throttle sensitivity. The performance of the BRZ makes it feel somewhat similar to a 110cc and 125cc commuter bike but it's difficult to judge as there’s no vibrations or engine sounds.

The BRZ is quite an agile bike thanks to its low kerb weight of 108kg and the slim profile makes it ideal for cutting through traffic. The suspension is well tuned and is able to handle most bumps and potholes on the road with ease but with heavier pillion in the back, the rear monoshock tends to bottom out pretty easily. 

The Revolt RV400 BRZ is a decent e-bike and one that doesn’t come off as too intimidating. It manages to give the EV experience without making things too complicated with too many features and functionalities that an average rider won’t be using. 

If you are looking for a simple electric motorcycle which is able to meet all your commuting needs then the RV400 BRZ will make for a good first e-bike.
