Triumph’s sub-litre class street fighter is ready to get a little extra muscle next year and the new Street Triple has been spotted on a road test. Reports of an uprated engine on the bike have been coming in for several months, but we now have a clear look at the model in the metal.

As per MCN, the new Street Triple has already been shown to prospective customers to gauge their reaction and information released in those events indicate that the bike will be named the Street Triple 765. While the name plays the old switcheroo with two of the numbers, it reflects a bump up of 90cc in the engine’s displacement. The new engine may be offered in three states of tune, with output figures ranging from 110PS to over 120PS.

The new range is expected to expand to at least four variants while the current range includes three models (Triple, Triple R and Triple RX). Cosmetic changes on the test bike don’t appear to be drastic, but a few noticeable alterations include new engine and clutch covers along with a new swingarm, while the exhaust is largely hidden by the bike’s underbelly. The prototype also sports new grab rails, a reshaped seat and bar-end mirrors that appear to be shared with its big brother, the recently updated Speed Triple.

The current Street Triple is powered by an inline, liquid-cooled, three-cylinder, 12-valve, 675cc engine that makes 106PS of power at 11,850rpm and 68Nm of torque at 9,750rpm. India however, gets a detuned version that makes 79.3PS of power and 57.3Nm of torque.
