Both bikes get Yamaha’s World GP 60th Anniversary liveries

Yamaha has taken the wraps off the 2022 YZF-R3 and the 2022 YZF-R125. Both bikes get Yamaha’s World GP 60th Anniversary liveries along with other crucial updates. Here’s what you need to know:

2022 YZF-R3

Finally! The Yamaha YZF-R3 gets a greener, Euro5-compliant motor. It’s a 321cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin mill that makes 42PS and 29.5Nm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox and uses a slipper and assist clutch. No other mechanical changes have been made to the R3 for 2022.

Design-wise, it looks similar to the outgoing model but with a redesigned fairing cowl to accommodate the new catalytic converter and the new paint scheme commemorating the bike maker’s 60 years of illustrious Grand Prix racing. The bike gets white bodywork with red stripes running across the sides and a yellow patch on the fascia, right above the headlight. Not just that, it also gets a 60th-Anniversary badge on the fuel tank and gold-painted alloys.

Yamaha has equipped the 2022 YZF-R3 with the same LCD instrument console as the outgoing model. The bike’s sprung on a gold-painted 37mm inverted fork and a rear monoshock.

Similar to its sibling, the baby Yammie also gets the 60th Anniversary paint scheme for 2022. It retains the same design as the YZF-R15 V3. Powering the 2022 YZF-R125 is the same Euro5-compliant 125cc liquid-cooled motor (with VVA) that belts out 15PS and 11.5Nm. It’s mated to a 6-speed gearbox and gets a slipper clutch as well. The bike’s suspended on a 41mm USD fork and linked rear monoshock, and its braking hardware consists of a 292mm front disc and a 220mm rear unit.

India bound?

While the R125 is surely not making it to India, we hope that the 2022 YZF-R3 does, since it’s finally Euro5/BS6-compliant. Its rival, the 2022 KTM RC 390, has already been unveiled internationally and is set to make its Indian debut soon.
