About Aprilia RS 457

The Aprilia RS 457 is the smallest faired sportbike in the Italian manufacturer’s lineup. It is a made-in-India bike, manufactured at Aprilia’s Baramati plant. It was launched at the India Bike Week (IBW) in December 2023, to know more about the bookings and other details check out our launch story here.
Aprilia RS 457 Price:
The Aprilia RS 457 is available in three colours: Prismatic Dark, Racing Stripes, and Opalescent Light. All are priced at Rs 4,10,000 (ex-showroom Delhi).
Aprilia RS 457 Engine:
It is powered by a 457cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine producing 48PS and comes paired with a 6-speed gearbox with a slip-and-assist clutch and an optional quickshifter. It comes with a 13-litre fuel tank.
Aprilia RS 457 Features:
The Aprilia RS 457 is equipped with an all-LED lighting setup. It features a 5-inch TFT instrument console with backlit switchgear, it also has smartphone connectivity. The bike comes with a ride-by-wire system and has three riding modes: Sport, Road and Rain. The bike comes with three levels of traction control that can also be turned off.
Aprilia RS 457 Suspension, Brake & Other Details:
The RS 457 has a twin-spar aluminium frame and steel swingarm with an underbelly exhaust. Suspension duties are taken care of by a 41mm inverted fork (120mm wheel travel) and monoshock (130mm wheel travel), with preload adjustability for both. Braking duties are taken care of by a 320mm front disc with a 4-piston radial calliper and a 220mm rear disc brake setup with dual-channel ABS. It runs on 17-inch alloy wheels fitted with 110-section front and 150-section rear TVS Eurogrip Protorq Extreme tyres. The kerb weight of the bike is 175kg.

Aprilia RS 457 Pros and Cons
Things We Like
- Looks - looks sporty, aggressive and premium. Good build quality and sharp design mean it attracts a lot of attention
- Engine - lots of torque throughout the rev range makes commuting very easy. Quick overtakes even in a gear higher are effortless
- Tyres - the TVS Eurogrip Protorq Extreme tyres are fantastic both in dry and wet conditions, no complaints there
Things We Don't Like
- Riding posture - the clip-on handlebar is low-set and on the committed side, not the best for everyday commuting
- Firm rear suspension - the RS 457’s monoshock is on the firmer side and lighter riders will be tossed around a bit when going through potholes and sharp speed breakers
- Reliability - the RS 457 is coming out of a factory that’s never made a bike before so its reliability and how Aprilia handles its after-sales service is yet to be seen
