The new Classic will likely reposition the fuel-reserve indicator

[UPDATE: The 2021 Royal Enfield Classic 350 has been launched in India. To know the pricing, specifications and other details, head to our launch story here.]

It is no secret that Royal Enfield is working on an updated Classic 350, which will utilise the brand’s J platform, first seen on the Meteor 350. Turns out it isn’t the only thing the new Classic will share with the Meteor. An image of the updated instrument cluster has surfaced, and it too features the Tripper navigation pod.

Thankfully, unlike the oddly-set extra fitment on the 2021 Royal Enfield Himalayan, the Tripper pod has here replaced the fuel-reserve indicator and engine checklight. Paired with Royal Enfield’s app, the tripper uses Google Maps to provide turn-by-turn navigation.

Another interesting change is the addition of a digital display under the analogue speedometer. It will likely show the fuel gauge and the odometer. A trip meter and a real-time mileage indicator would be welcome additions to the console, but the image doesn’t reveal any button to toggle between these functions.

The new Classic 350 has been spotted a number of times, and it seems to have quite a few updated bits while not appearing radically different from the current model. The most noticeable changes include the new flatter and wider headlamp, new seats, and the clear turn indicator. Royal Enfield chose to play it safe primarily because of its familiarity factor and the retro design that people still love.

Expect the 2021 Royal Enfield Classic 350 to make its debut by May 2021. It is likely to carry a sticker price of Rs 1.7 lakh, and once launched, will lock horns with the Benelli Imperiale 400 and the Honda H’Ness CB350.
